Tamiya Astute Rebuild
Hi all!
I am new to the forum and need some help with my Astute. I have been out of the rc hobby for years and recently got a new machine but I also found my old Astute in storage from when I was younger and need to get the knuckles for both front and rear as it was crush by another box and broke the wheels off. Turns out this is a tough find... Please let me know if anyone has any spices or a solution to the problem...
Thanks in advance for any efforts,
-Josh

Re: Tamiya Astute Rebuild
I'm sure TamiyaDan will be along shortly to help you out. The parts are rare, I recall that the front end was a bit complicated, with a mess of bushing and bearings. I don't think the Astute steering can be swapped in from the Super Astute or Madcap without some modifications. There are a few other vehicles that share some of the Astute DNA, but I think they all have slight variations.
It might be that you are stuck with roaming around Ebay to get the original parts or performing some light surgery to get the buggy running again. But there is always a chance someone knows of alternative, using readily available parts that drop in without modification.

I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

Re: Tamiya Astute Rebuild
Pictures not showing up? I never paid too much attention back in the day but the Astute was always one I loved the looks of if nothing else. I think those ads on the back of RC Car Action with the smoke billowing around it left an impression. AWESOME!
