I know this goes against everything I stand for, but some deals you just can't pass up.

The BSR Basher BZ-222 was on sale at hobby king so I nabbed one. I should have bought 4

-big bores
-alloy chassis
-belt drive trans with sealed gear diff and slipper
-rear or mid motor
-cv's
-3500kv brushless motor and speed control
-NOT a cab forward body! Preprinted scheme looks good!
-the tiniest radio you can imagine (but still, it came with one)

It was $49.99 (the deal is over, sorry :( )

This price point competes with New Bright's middle of the road stuff!

It's taken a little bit of playing around with stuff to get it right, like a poor fitting CV and belt tensioner issues because of the locktite used, but I still can't get over what a bargain it was. It will be a good Basher

Saw the review in RCCA. A pretty good amount of performance for the cost was what they came up with. Could be somewhat competetive with the right setup etc. $49! I'd bash that thing with a clear conscience.

Some of the cheap RCs and clones coming out of China are really good deals these days.

I have a shelf queen Tamiya Tumbling Bull. Instead of running it, I bought a $49 + shipping Chinese clone from Gearbest. It was RTR and even came with a battlestar generica lipo. Tossed in some 1150 bearings and lubed up the gearbox; the thing is a little wheelie beast. Most parts are interchangeable with Tamiya, too. What was really surprising was that it came with some ball bearings and the rest oilite bushings. There really is no excuse for Tamiya shipping stuff with those horrid nylon or plastic white bushings these days.

I have to admit that is a pretty sharp looking car for $49, what is it's retail without the special deal?

BTW, totally agree on the Tamiya bearing comment. Avid RC makes its living off selling $1 bearing, there is no excuse for bushings anymore...

The kit is $82 shipped from the USA, and I think the rtr is around $170. I'd never pay that for it.

As far as bearing go, you have to think like Tamiya. A bearing might cost $.05, and a bushing around $.005. Multiply the difference by thousands of kits and it makes a difference! Unfortunately most people would be fine with paying the extra $3 a kit to get bearings.

Looks nice. You mentioned aluminum; how about some pics of the chassis? That would be a great kit for beginners.

Is there a link? I would consider buying this and having it shipped to an uncle in Phoenix, who drives up to Alberta a couple times a year.

EDIT: Here it is

7

4 kits and 3 rtr

The caster blocks are weak, so the rtr will probably be sold off for parts. I'll keep the kits for rainy days. I also ordered 4 belts from Amazon that should free up the trans a little. The belts are very thick and wide.

Just outta curiosity I just went to buy 3 ARR...$86 to ship...pass. Figured putting them up at the LHS consignment place since its getting to be that time of year but not for that kind of money at this point. Trying to pick something else up with the little $ I have right now and this would put me behind even further than I already said I'd have the $ by.
