Which R/Cs used 4 stroke engines?

I really love the sound of the 4 stroke R/Cs. I'm aware that the Kyosho SuperTen used a 4 stroke. Were there any other R/Cs that came with or used a 4 stroke? How about any that used regular pump gas?

Pretty sure 4 strokes were a fad for super 10 size touring cars and lemans type cars. There may have been a conversion kit for buggies using an os 40. I only ever read about it once though.

It's really too bad that it never caught on. I understand that they're not very fast so racing is out of the question but for just playing around the yard they would have been a lot of fun. Better fuel efficiency, a little less noise and a lot of torque. I've looked into doing my own conversion but it seems like there's a lot of work and engineering involved.

Learn something new every day.....I never even knew RC's had used 4-stroke engines.

Not surprised at all that it didn't catch on, since you can get SOOooo much more power-per-pound from a 2 stroke, and they have far less parts to deal with.

That could be a new class or 2. 4 stroke mudders and crawlers.

We had a few customers THAT DID IT TO RC10 gt's. Planes guys liked them more so they could swing bigger props. But like said had to go bigger. IE in a 60 size planes, you ran a 91 size 4 stroke.

I had an OS 26 on a TMaxx with an Emaxx trans for manual shifting forward only. It was interesting but that's about it.

There was a big sales bump for 1/5 and 1/4 scale, then it faded out.
In Europe, we only had 2 stroke engines 1:5 / 1:6 - Mainly Zenoah and Solo.

Zenoah was a favored motor as well.

at the time there wasn't any laws requiring 4 strokes for larger scale. now some states like California have started to require small engine emissions. things like lawnmowers sold in Cali are required to be 4 stroke with some smog reduction.
That's interesting. I wonder if these laws will eventually apply to cars like the Losi 5ive T? Most of the 1/5 scale racing that I watch online seems to come from the Cali area.

Mostly on Kyosho Superten FW03 and FW04 cars. I have one as well....they really look great even if they dont give the performance of the nitro ones. I have seen them adapted to other on road cars as well. If you looking for info go onto www.tamiyaclub.com then search for member Tamkyo. His made them fit in HPI on road cars and even fitted a wankel rotary engine to a Superten.
