I'm not going to attempt to re-rail that other thread, so here goes:
When did battery bars replace braid? I have a red sanyo 1200 matched pack with labels on each cell, but it was put together with deans battery bars.
Is that an appropriate pairing time wise?

No. IIRC, Deans bars weren't around for those cells. They would have been early 90s or newer.
The first battery bars I remember were copper pill-shaped bars with a hole on each end for solder. They may have been a Dan's or MCS product. I'm not recalling off hand.
The first usage I saw of a solid bar was top racers using .25" wide brass sheet stock, cutting them to size and soldering them up. This was the late 80s. Before that, it was all battery braid, which was essentially silver coated .25" wide solder wick.

Dan's "Gold Bars" - October 1989.
I'm certain of the date because I still have the receipt for them.
They
may have been available earlier, i can't be sure.

That's them. Those were the first "battery bars" that I remember ever seeing. That would have been somewhere between 1987 and 1989 when I was still racing off road.

Red shrinked 1200SCR cells may be period correct with those Dan's bars... those cells were made for a long time, although overshadowed by the 1400/1700. I've recently found some of the red 1200's in stick packs that had price stickers from 1991 on them... matched, no...
Just tossing my two cents in.
