Can you identify these Yokomo's?

Anyone help identify my cars? I know they're both YZ-10's of some kind...and that's it. I've read Dual's excellent Yoke guide but still can't work them out. Both cars are in pretty good nick, the first one needs a few bits and pieces to finish it and the second one would be mint with new tyres and if the previous owner hadn't annoying cut the body to allow the Novak 610-RV heatsink through....

Thanks,

Ian

The upper one was called the 'Works '93' in Germany. The lower one was called 'Works '95' or YZ-10.

Hope this helps

This is exactly why I wanted to have Dual's post updated with some photos (before becoming a Mod). Now that I am a mod, as long as no one objects, I will take on that effort.

Hi Ian,

Nice cars you have there. As Seb mentioned, the car in the top picture is a Yokomo Works '93.

So you can cross-analyse the car in the bottom picture with the description in the 'Yokomo Timeline', it is called the 1994 Yokomo YZ10.

Hi Jay,

By all means, you have my backing regarding updating my Yokomo Timeline post with photos. I tried to do it myself but could not get the photos of my cars under their respective description in the Timeline post. If you need some photos of the Yokomo models/boxes, let me know and I will send you the ones I have.

Look forward to seeing how you go.

Vin

Didn't the 94 have white fiberglass shocktowers? 95 maybe?

I see the central axle with pulleys and spur is missing. I have all of this for sale; NIB from a YR-4 kit.
I know it is compatible, but is it the same as the original 94 or 95 edition, or did that come with the built-in one-way and slipper?

The car in the bottom photo is a 1994 YZ10. Yes, the original version did come with white fibreglass towers and upperdeck. The version in the photo has upgraded towers, upperdeck, f&r arms and shock towers from what I can see but the chassis is a 1994 YZ10 version. It is still missing (apart from the chassis) a few parts to make it a 1996 YZ10 Pavidis/Worlds Edition.

Guys,

Thank you for your help. Mr.Ed - you have PM. Vin, what else do I need apart from a chassis to convert it into a Pavidis edition? If the bits are reasonably easy to get I'd like to give it a go. If they are rare-as-rocking-horse-poo I think I'll spare myself the frustration and just fix it up as is.

Cheers,

Ian

Main differences from the "stock" Yokie:
- milled front and rear a-arms
- Associated teflon shocks with Yokomo gold springs and white cups
- carbon fibre all around
- special rear carbon fibre plate to bolt the turnbuckles on the chassis
- special body with a large front scoop on the left of the driver

I may have forgotten a detail or two, but if you browse the non-rc10 forum and the scan archive section; there is plenty of info about the "Pavidis" edition

Also, Chassis, Upperdeck has an extra mounting hole, Carbon Fibre battery hold down strap, Associated Shocks use Yokomo 'Copper' Springs, Front One-Way with Gear Adapter, Copper Body Post.

As Asso man wrote, these are the main differences. I think the hardest item to find will be the chassis but anything is possible.

Good luck

Send me a PM or reply to this post if you have further enquiries.

Update on the Yoke '94 /'95: Got hold of a NIP moulded wing & T.C.S system. Tried fitting the TCS only to find the front belt was too tight and wouldn't fit. Turned out that the lower mouldings for the front diff had been fitted back to front, moving the diff forwards. This is probably why it had no layshaft fitted when I bought it.....

The car already has milled suspension arms & a carbon fibre steering link arm. I know that Fibre-lyte do a C/F rear turnbuckle brace so might get one. I've also got some new original black disc type wheels somewhere which I'll fit when I get hold of some decent tyres to go with them. Worst thing about this car is that the front windscreen was cut out, grrrrrrr  Otherwise I'm reasonably pleased with it but it's an ongoing restoration work until I get it how I want it. Has anyone spoken to Kamtec about doing some repro shells? I'd be up for at least 3.
