Hello everyone, I am S1MMA and I am a losiholic. I have developed a problem........

Haven't been on here for a while, but been busy with the screwdrivers!

My vintage collection is now growing, looks something like this at the moment:

Image

From top to bottom:

Losi XX Kinwald edition, 80% rebuilt (have all parts to build)
Losi XX Kinwald edition, fully rebuilt and full vintage electroncs
Losi XXX Kinwald edition 2 BK2, 95% rebuilt, needs a few finishing touches
Losi XXX Kinwald edition 2 BK2, full kit build brand new never used
Atomic Carbon CR2, recently acquired, going to strip this down and rebuild (have full carbon and alu chassis options) with 4 gear gearbox
Atomic Carbon CR2, recently acquired, going to strip this down also and rebuild

I always wanted an Atomic Carbon CR2 since seeing one, and they don't dissapoint, amazingly well put together and absolutely solid. I'll take my time rebuilding these and may eventually put one up for sale.

The XXX BK2s

In addition I have 3 extra XXX chassis, 2 graphite XX chassis, 2 or 3 plastic XX chassis, and parts to probably build another 3-4 cars! My 22 2.0 is being a bit neglected recently, but I have pretty much every hop up part going for that and need to spend some time installing all of it!

Anyway, will try to keep this updated with progress, and may start another thread for the CR2s when I strip and rebuild them.

A very nice collection, & representative of the Losis that I've raced in the past! I stopped racing buggies around about 2000 - the car I was running then was a first edition XXX..... so I was surprised that when I returned back to the formula ten years later people were still racing the same car..... albeit with the gearbox turned around & a lovely slab of carbon replacing the plastic tub! And so a CR2 became the car I would start back up with & I must admit I have a real affection for them! Now it seems the manufacturers have caught up & are offering mid-motor cars, but for a while the small conversation companies were paving the way (here in the UK/Europe especially. Now it seems you can hardly give away a CR2 or X6, but it's nice to see someone else sharing the love for these pioneering cars 8)

PS; do you know who made your 4-gear gearbox, mine came with a rather rough looking but functional 4-gear but the previous owner had trimmed off the front - leaving only two screws fixing it to the chassis - I replaced it with one from the now defunct PSI racing in the US.

Thanks for the positive comments guys.

Dan - the gearbox does have some markings on the side, begins with a G but can't remember exactly. I have been researching the 4 gear box from old posts on Oople, all very interesting for me.

I do love a bit of Carbon, so when I saw the AC CR2 I had to have one!

Mama - yes I have plenty invested here, but likely to sell some of the spare cars some of which I bought as derelict wrecks and have rebuilt, but yes don't need two of each! I like to keep these things running and keep them going, always had Losi and like to see the old models stay active. If you think this is the power of $$ then don't get into 1:1 fast cars, as that makes our RC hobby look very cheap and great value!!!

Dan - just checked and the gearbox is marked "Grc" - any idea who made it? Can't find anything online....

As an update - I sold one of the XXX BK2 a few months back after completing the full nut and bolt rebuild. So down to one XXX BK2. Need to rebuild this one and put some period electronics in it, maybe some trinity upgrades also, I have a few bits...

I have just put up the 2nd XX Kinwald for sale after completing that rebuild, the XXX sold fairly quickly but the XX Kinwald is a bit more pricy so lets see how long before someone bites on it.

I've upgraded the 22 2.0 to ultimate spec, and I'm now rebuilding one of the AC CR2s, to be put up for sale when completed.

I also just took apart another neglected XX over the weekend which I'll clean up, rebuild and put up for sale, and I have another bag of parts from the ex racer's XX I picked up last year. Don't say I'm not doing my bit to keep these things running (or on a shelf, at least they survive!).

It's actually quite satisfying to rebuild these cars and give someone the opportunity of owning them, for a collection or to run. I can see the Kinwalds being collected, but the normal car builds which I will be doing in the next few months would be great vintage racers, glory on the track awaits once again!!!

Looking good!

There's that word again - "Heavy". Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earths gravitational pull?
