Time for a winter project..., wait, just because it snowed all day here doesn't make it winter yet. Autumn, project should be more appropriate.

Rod have be a bag with a bag in it and I think there's a car in there too. I just threw everything I think I needed for a restoration into a tote with the buggy and hit the road. When I say hit the road, I mean to work in the field. I usually have periods of down time where I like working on RC related stuff, usually painting bodies.

If anyone has any tips, I'm all eyes. I will do the normal, tear down, clean, sand, polish, and reassemble as per instructions.
Here's what I pulled out of the bag of goodies.

I'm going to use as many NIP parts as I can, polish and rebuild the shocks, rebuild the trans, etc. The goal is to make is completely stock, but fresh, newish out of the box stock. I didn't bring the unpainted wing and body with me this time, but those will be painted in the yellow box art scheme. Oh, and that chassis needs loving too, sanding and polishing that too.

Anyone have a link to the actual instruction manual?

The manual is just the large sheet of paper that is in the 1st or 2nd picture spread out on the table. I have them also but they were of very little use when I did mine, the original chassis is Kydex with a built in front bumper as this looks after-market. Car actually looks pretty decent and you can use the RPS manual for most of the rebuild as it is basically the same car but with the single rear shock replaced in favor of the dual rear setup. The RPS manual is or was available on Oople but I have it copied and can send it to you if you like. Looks like fun and will be a nice project to ward off the boredom.

Yeah, that explosion view is alright if you like searching for numbers to see that to do next.

As far as the bumper, it has that Hot Trick look to it, but I don't think they made stuff for the 834B. The chassis is fiberglass and has 3 holes for the front bumper. I think a winde black bumper would fit well, or even a shorty bumper would do the trick, but not the red one with the yellow paint. I might as well stick a McDonald's sticker on the car lol

Here is what was in the bag. Some duplicates, but all others will be used.
Step 1: Goo Gone anything that is stuck on chassis, and any other parts that had velcro on it.

Hot trick did make some parts for the 834B like front dual shock upright and rear upright in gold, red or black anodyzed aluminum and a few other incidentals which occasionally show up on eBay. Here's a picture of my original Graupner German released 834B car and I also have an RPS Se and a 7 cell chassis version I'm currently working on. Be careful these tend to grow on you.

That's a super nice, clean 834b ya got! Thanks for the info too, I'm pretty sure this bumper is a Hot Trick bumper.

Step 2: I almost forgot to snap a shot of the product/tools used on the aluminum parts. I got the wing mounts polished up, the roll bar half sanded and the rest is untouched. What I'm using is Mothers Aluminum polish after using 3M stage 3 to 4 sandpaper (400, 600 and then 800 grit). I use a dremel where I can when polishing.

These are looking good! You may notice I am restoring any extra parts as well. I figured I might as well while I'm at it.

Thanks, I'm trying not to over do it with the bling and keep the original look as much as I can, but showcase quality.

I just got done sanding and polishing the chassis. It appears as though I need something more coarse than 320 grit to get rid of the gouges on the bottom. As for the top, I did 400, 600, 800 grit and then aluminum polish
This is after 320 grit, no point in going any further. I hope to make it into town in the next few days to get more sandpaper.

Liking the progress heaps. Thanks very much for sharing. I will get around to doing a half decent 834b soon. I love this buggy heaps especially the original Dog Fighter.

While waiting for another break in work to get sandpaper, I decided to get cleaning and lubing my shaft(s) and bearings.

I ended up picking Spray Nine multi purpose cleaner to clean the parts. It's my first time using it, and it's working quite well.
I highly recommend soaking the hardware and bearings in Goo Gone to loosen the grime and lube bearings at the same time.
I'm starting with the rear arms and axle shafts.

First opened bag, ZB-22 (rear arm mounts)... the cool thing is that it comes with new screws . I used bearing oil on the shim and pins.
Next bags opened are ZB-24 & 25 (rear axles and rear dog bones respectively). I again used bearing oil on all bearings and a little on my shafts.
Now it's time to make those wheel hubs shine again.
