Team car with RPM "worlds" conversion

Hi, here is my team car worlds project.

I starded with a nice used Team car:

then I found RPM parts like new on the bay:

So I decided to make a RPM team car.

I made a repro of the front shock tower (the original had a strange blue color), I found some very nice TRX-1 shocks (bigger than .71, but a bit smaller than 1.02): I reanodize the shock caps in black (perhaps I have a problem with blue color  ).

I made some black short nose tubes (old grey tubes cut and anodized):

And today, I have cutted a brand new black tub. I'm very happy with the result, I was a little scared to worn this chassis.

is it a good idea to use the RPM 2.65 truck tranny on this project? Or is it a crime?
Please let me know what you guys think.

The only crime is not driving this baby when you're done!!! Excellent work there.

The RPM 2.65 trans is not a direct fit with an rpm worlds rear suspension setup. The worlds rear arm mounts only allow a normal stealth trans to fit perfectly, but you can grind the RPM trans case to fit it correctly. I believe scr8p did this on his full RPM car.

nice build, dude. :)

just be careful how much material you take off the rpm trans case if you use one. you might get called an moron if you take off too much. not by me, i'm speaking from past experience.

Well, I think I will go for the AE Stealth...don't want to worn a 20$ RPM tranny box.

I tried to build the rear of my car tonight and the rear arms don't fit :?

I made some search on the forum and I found that I have to trim out the rear bulkhead.

I decided to remove as few nylon as possible and have a tight fit:

Well, it's definitively not an easy kit to build

I have to agree with you here. Especially when you're building buggies up from aftermarket parts.

NICE JOB, but just for the heck of it... If you trim (sanding drum on dremel works easy) the lower inside section of the a-arm mounts flush with inside mount that would rest against the transmission, the RPM tranny almost drops in, and the suspension mounts are a lot cheaper than the tranny...

HERE LOOK...

no matter what, you need to grind material off of the trans case. so, why alter both parts?

Awesome build mate and yes it is difficult.

I have one RPM question though.

Are all your RPM trannies really white? Mine from tower recently (the truck box) seems to be slightly off white and it doesn't go with the other white RPM or RC10 parts. Is it peculiar to my one or is that their new thing?

well like you said it is difficult to cut the transmission. i messed one up the first time and that is why i came up with this setup. considering how the rear suspension mounts were moulded it is possible RPM thought of this....? maybe it was just to fit the stealth. who knows, but with the complexity of the modification you would be better off doing it my way if you were unsure of your skills. plus i now have a bunch of NEW rear suspension mounts i can sell to anyone who needs a set, for about half the cost of the tranny.

well, since the 2.65 conversion was really meant for a 10t, there was no reason for them to make the worlds arm mounts so they would work with the 2.65 case in a narrow worlds buggy chassis.

purely speculating on that.....................
