I inherited a rc10. It has a graphite chassis. Everything else appears stock. Im new to rc10 and not overly experienced in rc's in general. I will be bashing with this car in my yard/driveway/road maybe some school yard or skate parks. May hit the track for fun. I want to rebuild it because its older and I cant leave anything alone.

Just wondering what chassis is ultimately better to build off of? The graphite or gold pan? If your kind enough to answer give a short explanation.

Ive done piles of reading but I will be asking some pretty basic questions before I buy anything. Its the way I work.

For bashing it won't matter at all. Parts are interchangeable. The difference in my mind would be the chassis flex. I think in the nose and rear motor plate area, unless you can get all the parts then there is more flex in the graphite chassis (someone correct me if I'm wrong here).

That being said, its lighter so for a basher, that can be a lot of fun.

Interestingly, the newest B5M is an aluminum chassis. Also the B44.3 I think was as well. The idea being that the heavier chassis helps to keep the car on the track better. So if you were going to race, you might want to pick up a gold pan.

Either way, you'll have a ton of fun with them. I seriously doubt you'll be able to stick with one - ask me how I know

For a racer, neither is really 'better', they are just different for tuning the RC10's handling for different tracks. The aluminum tub chassis has a little flex to it giving it a little more grip and making it easier to drive. The graphite chassis is much stiffer and has a little 'spring' to it making suspension tuning a little more finicky.

For a basher, either will work fine but the tub chassis can take more abuse and protects the electronics MUCH better. It's also easier to modify and repair (somewhat) and cheaper to replace. A graphite chassis basher is more for bling and bragging rights but there's nothing wrong with that.

i don't think i've seen any graphite cars at the vonats in the past 5 years, maybe one if that.

Cool. Well gold pan seems good for what I want. I hope I only have 1. I just totally built a traxxas stampede 4x4, sunk near 2k into it. First rc ive owned since the nitro turbo bandit when I was 12, Im 33 y/o now.

Another question. I like the sounds of the stealth diff. I see a new gold pan has the spots already drilled out? Also what is the baddest slipper clutch that fit on the stealth? What are a good set of F&R A arms for bashing? I also want to do the carriers and axle on the back. Same for the front. I like bulletproof. Hoping to run the 2.2's unless there is something better. Ill probally search the forum first and post quotes for stuff I want to know or like the idea of.

on the slipper, you can install a b4 top shaft and slipper assembly, it's a direct fit.
