Anyone mill a powder coated chassis?

Has anyone done World's style milling on a powder coated chassis? A buddy of mine asked if I would mill his but we are afraid the powder coating may get messed up at the sides of the milled areas? Anyone have any experience with this?

it probably will get a little 'furry' on the edges, especially if the area you are milling gets warm. Might not be so bad if you are using a water spray on the mill.
sorry, not much more useful than that.

Thanks for your reply. Can the edges be cleaned up after with an xacto knife? Got any pics?

Sorry, I don't have any pictures. I would expect that if the prep work was good, you can trim up the fuzzy edge with a sharp blade afterward. The only concern is that the prep being poor would result in lifting on the non machined area. aluminum is a pain in the butt, nothing really sticks to it well.

Thanks. I guess there's only one way to find out...
Now who's going to volunteer first: Justin or Joey?

I milled a powdercoated chassis and it came out great. I just had to clean up a few edges with a razor, but only because the coating was hanging down in the milled areas. The coating at the edges of the milled areas is perfect once you clean it up.
I masked the bottom and sides of the chassis with blue painter tape to protect the coating
Squaring it up on the mill
And finished

Thanks guys!
Yeah, the red with the milled accents looks pretty sick. He's going to build the car with white plastics, should look amazing!
