Tekin BC 100l

Post by wts873 »

I just received one of these chargers with a Yr-4 I bought. Does anybody have a manual for it? Will it charge ni-mh?

Sweet, another Oregonian!

Do you have the 112?
I'll look around, I might have one I can scan for you. I know Tekin has info and downloadable manuals here:
http://www.teamtekin.com/chargers.html

I've also been told that you can send them back to Tekin for a software update. It might allow for newer batteries, but im not sure.

The BC100L is a good charger for nicads, but it can't properly charge NIMH. It is a peak charger, which also happens to be the main reason they can't charge NIMH. I don't know the specifics, but the peak sensitivity has to be different for nicads and NIMH. I have also heard about getting them updated for NIMH, it would probably be a good charger if you could get that done.

Did Tekin ever go out of buisness? I remember alot of rumors back around 2000 or 2001 that they did. I bought a Tekin Rebel esc back then at a big chain HS and the guy there recomended not to get it because they were going out of buisness and wouldnt cover any warranties. I still bought the Tekin and not the xtm they were pushing. the tekin worked great until I reversed polarity and let the smoke out. My fault totally  Did Tekin get bought out or resurected?

not sure the new tekin has much to do with the old one, but that's another topic.

I wouldn't charge recent NiMH with a BV100L, it will peak way too late and risk damaging the cells... the peak sensitivity is way lower on these older machines.

Tekin used to be the work of Kevin Orton. The company was sold many years ago to the Campbells and are still producing VERY good products. You can still get a lot of info on the old items directly from them at http://www.teamtekin.com
