Looks like an early CE. Explore this place, and all questions can be answered.

There's a great sticky in the RC10 forum.

http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=13059

Each variant of the RC10 is itemized, and differences are noted for each version.

Compare your car's components to those noted in the sticky to help determine originality.

Based on your pictures, you'll probably want to start by reviewing the 'early 6 gear CE'.

Good luck! Enjoy your score!

If your happy with it, it was worth buying. We don't do appraisals and values here, that's best left on eBay. That said, with some elbow grease it should clean up real well

If you are looking to whiten the parts do a search here on peroxide whitening. Works well if exposed to the right amount of sun.

Nice find BTW! Should clean up really nice and welcome to the forum.

It looks like its probably been sitting for some time. If you want to run it you should probably do some basic maintenance before. That would be:
  • New oil in the shocks
  • Rebuild the transmission
Other than that it needs some electronics. I guess you know what to do there?

Good solid base for a runner. It looks complete and correct for an 'as run' shelfer as well. As recommended earlier, I'd take it completely apart, clean all the parts up. Rebuild the shocks and make sure that fresh lube is in the right spots. Slap some electronics in it and take it for a spin. If you plan on racing it, there are a couple things to do to get it into that shape as well, mainly wheels/tires and possibly a set of shock springs.

Keep us updated.

yeah, that's a really nice complete example of an early CE, long arms, 6 gear. well used for sure, but complete. I'd rebuild it, put a nice body on it, and run it around, since it's not pristine.

cleaned the rc10, just need ideas on cleaning the plastic

That's a nice car. After reading through the CE manual I find myself really wanting one now. Guess I'll have to start hunting e-Bay again. Sometimes I think I should stay away from this place.
