870c restoration

I'm finally getting going on a Yokomo 870c restoration so thought I'd start a thread and share some pics.
I've bought a couple of well used and incomplete cars recently and the first has arrived.
I've also sourced a few of the obviously missing parts.
I want this to be a runner.
So, here is the starting point:

More to follow shortly!

Looks like you've got the makings of a good runner there Nigel

A couple of questions, if anyone can help me please...
Is there any reason why you can't run a front diff in the rear?
I have two good condition front pulleys but my rear pulley is knackered!
I have a top deck with a couple of countersunk holes near the spur that look like they are meant for mounting a belt tensioner.
This would require a right angle bracket which I don't have, does anyone have any pictures of how this would have looked? I can make a bracket but would like to get it looking as close to original as possible.
The top deck is the same as this one:

I made a bracket for mine out of aluminum angle. It's pretty much just trial and error. It uses the original idler and arm

read through this thread. the top deck you have is a jammin jay. there is a full 870c build in this thread that will really help you with your rebuild, including a fresh out of pack install of this top deck.

good luck!
i think there is a second lip on the front diff pulley, shouldn't need it on the rear, but shouldn't be a problem to run it either.

Thanks for the great pics of the belt tensioner bracket.
I've made a little progress ...
Chassis is a little scratched on the top where someone has been a little careless removing some electronics.
Spine was damaged, but I have a Jamming Jay top deck so I think I will run without a spine.
The diffs are rebuilt and are very smooth.
New belts fitted.
Think I have nearly all the bits I need to complete it now, apart from some white ball ends for the upper links.
Please let me know if you know where I might get some.

Are those 2.1 or 2.2 wheels? Think these are very rare now, maybe want to run J.C wheels if they are going to get trashed?
Great looking Yokomo BTW!

2.2"
Current offerings from JC are not the right offset, so I will run these.
After all what use is a wheel if its not going round?
I would like some pink ones though!
