I got a lot of "free stuff"

One of my coworkers dropped off a surprise for me, 2 tubs of "old rc's" as he put it.

First one i know, wild willy m38.
The second and third are kyosho's.
One looks like a cheap version of the Optima Mid / Lazer, all plastic.
The other is nitro, 4wd and has a beetle body with a "field beetle" decal set.

Any help id'ng these guys would be greatly appreciated. once i know what they are i'll create restoration threads in the appropriate forum when time allows.

Now onto the pics...

i think i may have gotten them i'd correctly.
the lazer was tough until i found the wing that said alpha lazer.

not sure i'll do anything with that. the willy's will get the treatment and the beetle will at least get cleaned up.
i'm not a fan of nitro, but this one is interesting.

As you've guessed it's a Lazer Alpha. Kyosho made it as a budget kit and there's not that much which is compatible with the decent racing versions.

Interestingly, I just got some 'free' parts sent to me, a lot that included a pile of Lazer Alpha parts!!!! Sure, they're not that much of a buggy in comparison with their older brothers, but my old Celica GT4 was based on the Lazer Alpha chassis, and that was a pile of fun to throw around, once you got full bearings installed!

i think the lazer alpha, traxxas cat remnents and the boat will get a "free, you pay shipping" thread in the bst.

i'll keep the willy's and the beetle.

That's the good thing about boats....

Even this is salvageable......

P.S. No disrespect meant to any victims of the Costa Concordia disaster, or their families....

Unlike the Ultima RB Type-R and Ultima RB Racing Sports  , the Lazer Alpha is the car where most parts ARE compatible with its racing brethern.

The Kyosho beetle is the qrc (quick reverse clutch) chassis, IIRC. There was also a dodge ram based on that chassis but with more of a monster truck trim. Very cool chassis. I wanted one so bad when they came out bitd, but never did get one. I don't know if it was the very first chassis with reverse, but one of the first that I remember.

It was the first with a decent reversing mechanism. I used that gearbox on a nitro mountaineer once, pi$$ed off a lot of purists! Lol

There was also a moon eyes van street version

My brother had the dodge ram version. If I recall there were no brakes? It would slam into reverse when trying to slow down. All he had was troubles with that truck.
