Hi,
My name is Tomas, located in Sweden. Into vintage racing, recently i purchased a nice TRX-1 from a Danish guy.
The car will be cleaned and rebuild with new bearing and some new plastic parts.
I have some Question for you guys along the way and i hope you can help me answer them.
First question is the turnbuckels, rod ends and ball studs for this car. Wich will i choose for a nice upgrade? I guess i should go for a metric setup? Seems like the car is metric itself.
Happy for answers.
Pics will come along the way.

Yes, the car uses metric screws and others.
You really want to upgrade or only to replace the ball cups ?

Looking for an upgrade, i have ordered some stuff yesterday that will be good for this project.
Can anyone tell me where i can find 2.2" wheels for this car?
Here“s an ugly pic on the ride so far...

Personally I would add 12mm rear hex adapters (front traxxas) and see if late model Tamiya wheels have the proper offset. Fronts should be fine (5mm axle).
Bandit rear wheels should fit fine, but fronts don't use bearings in the wheels. Tamiya sand rover wheels aren't too pretty but should fit

jc racing makes some also I believe for traxxas.

I didn't even think to look and see that they were still available. That's awesome! 2.15 is perfect for 2.2 the old school way lol

Thanks for the replies guys.
I decided to buy thoose wheels from Tower, thanks for the input on them.
I have a friend who had a slim body made for the TRX-1 that TBG sells. It is usable if you want to put the ESC on the chassiplate instead of the rear tower.
Can anyone tell me if i can put on another slipper so i can use gears from modern cars etc?
The yellow wheels will not be used:
I also fitted a set of Tamiya TRF aeration dampers:

any of the newer traxxas slipper setups will work on the hex shaft of that trans. otherwise, you can find a slipper shaft that will work for hydra or b4 type slippers, but not that common.

Hmmm...closer look the vxl slipper uses a pin drive. Lemme look into it further. The stock clutch works decently as long as you have the pegs. The spurs you can use are standard pan car type.

Thanks for your help!
I was looking on smaller spurs from kimbrough but they have less holes than the traxxas gear. I have some extra pigs in spare but is it okey to use less of them or will they burn up in three minutes? I am going to use an 17.5T motor so i guess i almost can loch the slipper but want so save the tranny a little bit.

You can use fewer pegs. I wouldn't use any less than 6. But realistically I would and have used 8 as a minimum. Two pegs, skip a hole, two pegs, skip a hole, etc. The friction pegs are still available as well. A 17.5 is still gonna spool things up plenty on that bad mambajamba.
Also, Daryl Lane still has new old stock A&L Power Clutches available for the TRX-1 if you wanted a proven new vintage clutch. He also has ball bearing steering kits, dogbone axle kits, and battery hold down plates, etc.

Best of luck with this TRX-1. They are neat buggies.

Oh yeah A&L slipper is a great option!
