Sorry if this is not the right place for this, but it was the closest topic I could find. I was just wondering about decal application techniques. I have finished the paint on my TBG Tomahawk lexan body and I am getting ready to apply an MCI repro decal set on it. I have seen somewhere that people apply soapy water first, allowing you to position the decal in the right spot, and then squeegeeing the water out from underneath. I have done this before with vinyl cutouts (Which I believe is what these decals are made of) but I just wanted some more input from you guys. I already damaged a body from not having lexan body painting skills, so I want the decal job to go a bit smoother

This is probably not needed on most of the decals, but there are a few that will need to be symmetrical

Before you use any liquid it helps to know what adhesive is on the decals.
These days you can get vinyl with either waterbased or solvent based glue.
You can use a watery solution to float vinyl with solvent base glue
but the same will washaway the waterbased glue.

If in doubt, dry application is the safest.

If you're after a recipe for a suitable cocktail... Try

a pint of water, pure as you can get
Cup of rubbing alcohol or methylated spirits
Few drops of Dish detergent, no more than half tsp

Mix it all into a trigger pump pack & its good to go.
