My name is Jim and I am born and raised here in Sacramento CA. I started RC racing at Sacramento Miniwheels in the early 90's with some all plastic car that had a 540 motor and a 2 Liter bottle as a body. I graduated to a Futaba Falcon after the soda racer. Then, finally, a RC10 Team Car (just before the stealth was released). I raced at miniwheels until their close. At that time, my friends and I would mimic and copy Mark Francis and Matt Francis. They both raced there locally, and we would also bother them for hard to get stickers. After mini wheels Sacramento continued to race at Hobby Wharehouse. While Hobby Wharehouse was open Finest RC took over the Miniwheels location and we raced there once again. Finest RC never tilled the track and it became very hard packed, and a few guys started making offroad foam tires for the hard condition. Hard pack clay?! What a STUPID concept at the time. (LOL)
I quit racing after high school and have missed it ever since. I picked up a Worlds Rerelease without hesitation, practiced one session, and went racing last week for the first time in 20 years. I'm going racing again tonite on a Hard Pack Clay track.
I have been enjoying all the information on this board so far. There are many amazing builds with milled chassis, and super nerdy masami, lett, kinwald, francis inspired builds.
