Super A&L MIP SRB

Hey all,
I decided to do this build after searching for the parts to make a MIP 4x4 for years and never being able to find all of the parts.
The car has a mix of Tamiya and Associated genes with a set of MIP trailing arms and will end up being a 2wd rc 10 srb hybrid.
First up I needed a chassis to make all of the components to work together and I thought why not copy the RCH shock tower extenders and Mip Trailing arms so then can be remade in black fiberglass.
For the transmission the MIP one was out of the question so I went for an A&L leathal weapon running RC 10 stealth diff outdrives.

Pretty cool so far. I like everything on there but for me, that transmission is too new to use on a project like this one.

I like modernizing vintage buggies, I say go for it. Looking forward to updates!

I like it too! You're off to a good start. I've got no prob with mixing up parts for a cool build. The other night I started piecing together an srb base car with an SP1 trans.

I really like this build. Is the body going to require any special trimming?

Looks great. I didn't realize that you can run stealth out drives on an A&L trans.

Here's another progress shot with most of the parts fitted, still lots to do tho.
It was a lot of playing around to get the steering setup working right and in hindsight I would of moved the steering links back about 3 mm.

More playing around with the steering and I think its pretty right now. The good thing about the associated steering design is that you can easily adjust the acerman setting.
Now all the parts are on and I tried dying some parts with some yellow dye.
Well the dyed parts turned out orange which just didn't look right.

The next step was to tear it down, trim the bumper, make the sleeves for the front axles, fit the body posts and then re dye everything black.
Note, the one white rear arm. Bezerk RC misplaced it so is making me another one plus some lowering blocks for the front end.

Finally a shot with the body on. It still needs a little trimming and lowering of the body post at the rear as well.

All I need to finish the build is the rear arm and new bearing carriers which should come next week.
Then it will be ready to hit the track for some vintage racing once I've fitted my trusty Novak Cyclone speedy and a 540 motor and a shorty pack.
Can't wait!
