Fibrelyte tubs no more

This might have been talked about already here but I didnt see it. I have been told by Fibrelyte they will no longer make any CF tubs and removed them from their site. I have good reason to believe I may have the last one ever produced and me, along with another US purchaser whos probably a member here are probably the reason they are no longer being made.

I waited well over 4 months to receive my tub from them and when it showed up a couple weeks ago I was completely devistated with the condition it was in. It looks IMO horrible! I contacted FL to let them know I wasnt happy with the quality of the product and asked how we could solve my displeasure. I was informed by FL they had a similar complaint recently and decided to pull them off the market.

Im super bummed out. I have wanted one of these tubs for many, many years. I finally got one and its a total let down. :(

Yeah they were pretty rough looking tubs IMO. People don't want them to run them, they want them to look good...and they don't

Its funny you say that! FL told me these tubs were for runners/racers not shelf cars.

Exactly!

Im hoping others here who have a cf tub chime in on the quality of theirs and the appx time it was made. I'll try to get pics of mine up in the next couple days and we'll see if mine is like the others. Maybe I just expected too much.

I've got several from years past and can't tell you dates since they were never newly bought by me but none I have seen look good. Finish is bad, weave looks bad, unevenly made. I believe them when they say they were meant to race and not be shelfers :P .

And no pictures?

FL makes pretty clean 2D stuff for sure though.

got no pictures handy of my stuff but I definitely have some really nice 2d FL parts that look beautiful. I'd like to see some pix of the dissappointment if you have any...

If I had a CF tub, I'd run it...run the crap out of it :)

I'm also curious to see how bad it is.

Both of the Fusion Speed graphite tubs I had 20 years ago were awfully piss-poor in every regard except for maybe bragging rights. Holes were too close to the edges with barely any meat for the screws, material thickness was all over the place, screw holes were off, etc. They looked cool as hell but a closer look easily showed how rough they really were. I have no idea why I spent money (what, $100-$120 each at the time?) on two of them. Ugh.

Id think as long as it looked good like the graphite chassis does, id have no problems sanding them down some and adding some protective coatings to them.

I sounds like I was holding FL to too high a standard. Or, when I'm able to post pics of it you guys will say "wow!, That looks like crap even compaired to my chassis!"

I'll try to get pics up tomorrow

Well,

Not to be "that guy", but [(like the but?) Ha! I am that guy, I guess.], are these things structurally sound? Or are they formed turds? If I had a structurally sound tub that had a little wave in the weave, well......then. If they are misproportioned and warped, then, shame on them. Pics, man, pics. Just my 2ยข.
