New RC10 day.

Post by twinrider1 »

Hey,
I just got into RC with a garage sale find...read about it here http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=35467. I was on another forum (non RC) discussing how I was getting my son into RC. Out of the blue someone offers up his old RC to help get my boy up and running. Well, it arrived and I was pretty blown away. So much cleaner and more complete than my garage sale buggies. To be honest, I'm wondering if this is too nice to let my son go bashing with it.

Put a body on it and set it on the shelf. The good ones are getting scarcer by the day...

I agree with the others. It would be a shame to trash such a nice, vintage RC10.

I was eight when I got an RC10 for Christmas. The car was able to withstand whatever I put it through. I say buy a new battery, change the plugs on the ESC and power it up and see how it runs. If something breaks, parts are available. If it doesn't power up, you can replace the electronics for pretty cheap.
RC10 Short Arm | Novak Tempest ESC | Tamiya Torque Tuned 25T | Savox 1258 | Stealth Trans w/ Exotek Slipper Eliminator (geared 24/81)
RC10B3 | HW Just Stock Club Spec | Reedy 13.5 | Savox 1258

I guess the point of my post is that there are thousands of basher/runner quality RC10s out there. Instead of destroying the car you have, why not buy an ebay runner and modify it to your heart's content. Or get a brand new generic brand runner, or even an RC10 Classic to run. To me, the value of the vintage car is in the preservation of the "patina" if you will.

Yep, I think I'm going to put this one on a shelf. It's not mint, there are some scuffs and scratches on the bottom. And that cup in the bulkhead has been notched a little. But it is so clean, I doubt it has seen much dirt, if at all. And it's a time capsule. It will be a great for reference, just to see where everything is supposed to go.
