here in adelaide where i live and grew up, there was one shop which stocked kyosho but closed soon after i bought my lazer zx-r.. pretty much 100% of the parts i bought for my optima were O/S and atleast 80% of my lazer stuff is from O/S..

but back to the topic...
the hyper clutch interests me. seeing as the slipper disc is in between the 2 metal plates can it handle more power without over heating or is there no difference to a standard slipper..

I think the slipper pad area is the same as any other slipper clutch from the same time. Its small! Quite possible that by having the pad sandwiched between metal would make it handle a bit more power, and be a bit more consistent at higher power. I doubt its a huge difference though, probably noticeable. Havent run mine yet. My zxr is currently serving as a mock up for cf parts,, so is in a state of limbo.

The main advantage is that you can use standard spurs instead of the Kyosho ones.

As for getting one, also keep your eyes open for parts lots. Got mine in such a lot (except it was missing the layshaft - mispacked, the bag was not tampered with - fortunately a seller on Ebay had just the layshaft for sale...).

Yeah it seems that kyosho finally caught on that the rest of the world used kimbrough and robinson spurs. That opens up a whole bunch of gear ratio choices and even the possibility of going 64 pitch,, swapping out betwen 48 and metric pitch... easier to keep running with more options.

Ive been scouring the parts lots, and havent found much lately. There was a mk2 that went pretty cheap recently,, and I forgot to bid...

Hyperclutch just went recently,, like yesterday for 50 bucks. A real bargain by todays prices.

Why not buy the layshaft alcyon and i have designed and tested. It got me tenth overal in the winter series and i was the only vintage there.. its a layshaft designed to use the B4 slipper system and i found the vts gave me a significant advantage of almost three laps compared to the hyper clutch.

And not lose your slipper setting!!

Welshy, I find myself in a funny predicament. Ive got the top half for a hyper clutch,, but the back piece, that secures to the shaft,, not present. Hmmm,, dont know exactly what to do....

I recal there being a lighter front and back plate but unsure if only the team had access to these or was available to all but i have none left so option is buy this shaft and bung a vts in, youll gain a lap or two with it.

The lighter front plate was released to all, and was also an option for the Ultima Type-R slippers.

the back side are not the same on the ultima type´r and the lazer hypercluctch i have not seen the rb but i bought an clutch robinsonracing for the rb and the backplate do not look the same anyway. All the other parts they do seem share so umw-305 is the lightened front piece for the clutch and it fit them both.

regarding the missing backpiece i think you have to get a new clutch/layshaft from alcyon and takeit from there and or maybe let me think ....i might have a solution ....pm me
