RC10 based dirt oval car thread.
I finally found a new body for my old oval car and it has sparked my interest again, my car is quite unusual. RC10 based dirt oval cars vary wildly and tend to be scattered on the board so why not start a picture thread of different cars, ideas and mods.
Post pictures of your unusual, rare, custom and home made RC10 based oval cars.

Re: RC10 based dirt oval car thread.
This is one I put together, just a Mcallister lowering kit and a custom chassis. Basically copied a houge on one side and left off the right side. The motor plate was cut down to clear the rear body mount being dropped way down. I've always liked the look of a radical offset car but from what I hear the oval cars like to be a little more straight up

Lots of crazy designs and nutty oval engineering. Not exactly RC10 based but the Dynotech Delta Sprint Car takes the cake for wacky engineering. The standup motor is thinking outside the box and makes sense.
I like offset cars too although same as you, I hear they dont work well. Mine is an offset chassis and offset arm, mid motor car.

Re: RC10 based dirt oval car thread.
I thought there would have been more cars than this.
I'll post pictures of mine when the body comes and I clean the car up, it has been stored in a box for 12+ years. The trans set up is similar to yours without the motor guard, roll center block, or custom towers. Although the chassis is aluminum I had intentions to get a carbon one cut as well as some of the other plates. The car probably wouldn't have worked very well being an offset chassis and offset arm car, but it would have been fun to play with a locked diff and stagger. I remember driving it in my street and being surprised at how smooth it was.Soncho Ponza wrote:Pshshsh---mid motor set up----what a silly idea

Pretty cool looking car, interesting mix of parts and the back tires look cool as I've never seen them before. What body are you going to top it off with?Asso_man! wrote:Here is one I freshened up recently:

Thank you! The car has many hand-made parts and a custom epoxy molded tub. Quite unique indeed. You can see more of it here: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=33599RC10th wrote:Pretty cool looking car, interesting mix of parts and the back tires look cool as I've never seen them before. As for the body, I have actually no idea about where to go. Any suggestions would be really welcome.

Re: RC10 based dirt oval car thread.
If you want something easy to find Windtunnel still sells some of Bolink's old latemodel bodies and Custom Works still has an Open Comp Camaro....though I'm not sure if it's the same old mold or not. There's also a possibility that McAllister has some of his old latemodel bodies still in stock.Asso_man! wrote:...

Or if you want to try and find something more obscure there's the AE Outlaw Cougar body that Charlie recommended, the Andy's wedge, and Premier's Wedge and ASA T-Bird or MustStang bodies.
Best for last there's the Dahm's Devestator...but no way am I giving mine up.

Re: RC10 based dirt oval car thread.
here are my oval cars. my edm is a terminator conversion, sorry no body off shots it's just a narrower version of the truck pretty much just a standard 2.25 terminator. the 10t truck is also a terminator conversion but with a custom milled noseplate, factory works towers & body.

Here is my rather normal oval car. I've driven it on the pavement and it's super smooth.

Yeah, it's DS on the left side and B2/3 on the right (dunno how to tell B2 arms from B3). The car is definately interesting and I really have no idea where I got the idea or why I built the car. Regardless I think it's a pretty cool car, have you seen another one?

Re: RC10 based dirt oval car thread.
I am bumping this thread, after a couple of minutes, because I too am looking for inspiration. I bought and paid for a Kranzel about a month ago, but the seller decided he wanted the car and my money, so had to go through that fight. While waiting for it, I got excited about it and really wanted to get into some oval racing. When the deal went south, I shelfed the idea. But this weekend I visited a semi-local guy that closed up a hobby shop quite a few years ago, and while negotiating my pile of stuff, I noticed this chassis off to the side. Got it thrown into the deal for pretty darn cheap. I think I can make a oval car out of it, so I am looking for ideas.

I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.
