Hello. I'm new here. I hate to start off asking for help, but: you guys were recommended to me. I am restoring a Bolink Renegade from the early 80's. This was my first R/C car. Given to me by my father. This Christmas is the 30th anniversary of that gift. We raced together for nearly 15 of those 30 years. know I would like to give back what he gave me. I have a donor chassis(in pretty bad shape). Luckily I have for a few parts to help restore it. I've found an upper radio tray. The rear damper tray, damper washer kit, 1 set of oilite bears(need one more), and a diff rebuild kit in France(of all places). I liberated a rear axle(some what descent shape), from a Bandito I bought off eBay. I have added some pics just in case some of you know this car by it's form and not it's name. The first pic shows the car in it's complete state. I will post pics of some of the parts I am needing as soon as I can get pics made. Btw... Does anyone know how to bleach or whiten delrin pieces that have been died(assume RIT die). Thank you for your help. I look forward to being a member of this site.

Here are the parts I have found so far on the restoration. The parts on the ends came from France! Believe it or not the price and shipping was not expensive for the distance they had to come. All I need know to get started is the plastic pieces(front a-arms, steering blocks, rear blocks, and the chassis posts. Finding them has not been easy. Those seem to be the most expensive. They are Associated pieces I have found with help from the forum, and confirmation from the design of the actual car. Luckily I do have some lead from generous friends I have made here and on ebay. Btw... Does anyone know the best way to polish a rust rear steel axle. It's not bad. I just don't want to damage it by cleaning to much and wearing down. Leaving it loose in the oilite bushings.

those look just like stock ASC 12I-L parts, and so do the front arms. you can clean them and make them look better than new. scrub them up good then give them a perixode bath out in the sun in a pan lined with aluminum foil they will look great.

Thnx, but; the pics above are not the car I have(I wish). My car has black died parts that are very distressed. Some I'm looking for fresher pieces that have not been died.

So I'm finding pieces bit by bit. Thanks for the peroxide tip. Do you use anything specific to clean them before the wash?

Yeah, use it on my 1/8th scale gas buggy all the time. Btw, what is an approximate time frame to let these parts sit in the peroxide?

I line a old bakeingpan I have with aluminum foil set it out in the bright sun it only takes a day or so keep turning them. the longer you leave them the whiter they seem to get.

Again thanks. Here's what I've got so far. Know it seems to be bits like screws and bolts that are era correct that are being the tough stuff to find.

Yeah, it was my first. I had a ton of fun with it. Won a lot of races too.

I know it's been awhile since I last posted. Life seems to get in the way of things we perceive as important, but; show they can be put to the back burner. But; I have made big strives in restoring the Renegade, and I wanted to update you. So I was able to collect all the parts needed for assembly of the chassis. I must say the hardest part of the assembly was not scratching all the plastic pieces up. When we raced this car, we never worry about that. But; after being very careful I was able to get the front independent suspension, the chassis stand offs, and the rear motor/axle blocks into place. Finding the rear damper washer kit was sooo luck. I came across it on eBay by chance. But; it was NOS, and it helped keep the authenticity of the restore, instead of finding separate pieces. Finding the rear motor pod plate was a gift form the gods. It cam from France! But; the main chassis plate came from England, and the upper radio tray from Georgia. Might say this "Renegade", is from the Revolutionary War! LoL! So I've finally got the wiring diagrams I needed to start wiring it up. But; I want to put period correct batteries in it. If anyone has any ideas how I can go about this, yell. Again sorry for not posting. But; I am close to restoring this beauty. Oh! I have bought several bodies to mount. A Porsche 934, 935, 935 Long Tail, and a March 82G. I want to mount a Parma ASA Dodge Aspen. I can't find one. If anyone knows who/where I can, yell again. Ok; enjoy!
