When would you call your collection done?

I doubt anyone would call it done but when would you realistically be happy with what you've got. The point when you hit your happy place and can take a step back, where you don't need anything?

Mine would be after a handful of bits and pieces to finish off a couple of cars, a set of FT T4 shocks and about 8 or so bodies and a 12L. Then I can take a step back and relax a bit.

i always tell myself that my collection is done, until i find something else i want.

i have way too many unfinished projects at all different stages of completion. with my track record of getting things built in a timely manner, i'm gonna be busy for a long time. whch is fine with me. :)

I don't like a ton of unfinished projects. I can cope with one or two but any more drives me nuts. This last year I went crazy and nearly finished most of them off, it's a bit of relief to finally get on top of it. I look forward to only having one project on the go at a time :D

Hopefully we'll see some of yours completed sooner rather than later

Yeah, it'll never be done. There's always something I'm gonna want to work on.

I'm of the same mind. I have a nasty habit of losing momentum on a particular project, setting it aside, letting it sit for a good while before getting motivated to get back at it. I try to limit myself from starting dozens of new projects before wrapping up the incomplete ones...because I hate having loose ends all over the place. I don't get stressed out by loose ends, but it's always burning at the back of my mind. Eventually, I get motivated to make a serious effort to complete my projects, and get a sense of satisfaction when I do. It's like I can finally stop that burning at the back of the mind and truly enjoy the finished projects.

That said, I don't really have the collector gene and I'm not motivated to gather large quantities of similar items. I don't even particularly want to acquire more than one of the same thing; maybe it's just me, but I don't get it when people have to have several of the same item in a collection. I may have more than one of a particular model of RC car for example, but each one is very different from the others. I would say my Optima collection is done; I have my Gold Celebration with gold hop-ups resto project; a proper onroad conversion; a beefed-up bulletproofed badass Optima "supreme"; and lastly a RWD mid-motor car. I'm not interested in building any more at this time.

I'm kind of the same way when it comes to computer games; I'm not one to install a dozen different games on my computer, play each game for a bit to see the effects & eye-candy, then install yet another amazing new game when it comes out; I actually have finished maybe 75% of the games I installed (I have quite a collection over the years), and if there's limited replay value, I get a feeling of satisfaction uninstalling a game I'd completed.

I have about evertyhing I want. of course there is always something new that comes out that I want to get. I want to get the new Tamiya Cascadia semi but that's about it. Really I need to get rid of a bunch of the things I already have and have never did anything with.

I had a long drawn out reply typed for this thread, but after all that I figured I could summarize and say never. My collection will never be complete. Glad I'm not the only one. :D

i have a list, its reasonably extensive but ive been chipping away at it.

I do only collect one example of each car / boat / motor I want though. so space isnt too big of a concern.

got around 20 cars to go, 5 boats, 15 motors.

hopefully can finish it all off in the next few years before my son is of "racing" age then i'll start with the modern stuff

Never done, there is going to be too many "wants". As new kits come out, or I find a different version of something I have, I will buy it.

That is a nice purple you have chosen there Jeff, Hope there is no use for it in the next 60 years or so.
