Hello everybody!

I'm new here, I have followed your forum for a while and now I decided to register. I've been with RC-cars quite short time, from 2007. Mostly I drive my 1/5 FG Marder, but I've always loved oldschool electic cars, especially buggies.

So I have couple old Kyoshos that I want to show you.

First, my Turbo Optima Mid, that I purchased last summer. It's working thing with Futaba ESC and mysterious MIH motor. Ko Propo EX-II transmitter followed this car. I love cars design, they say that this is first modern-day buggy.
I gonna restore this during this spring, I've been also thinked to turn this to brushless. I don't have much knowledge about electrics, so I'd like to know, what kind motor, ESC and battery would be good for Mid.

Then there is Raider Pro, that I purchased at this week. I have not received it yet, it hould be in my hands at next week. Seller said, that its in very good condition, not much driven. And it looked good in pics. And it was quite cheap.

There is also my cousins old Raider Pro project, that in slightly restoring:

My cousin got this for christmas present when he was young. It has saw almost everything. It's been in storage almost 20 years now, since it's old battery died. With new battery it turned alive again. It needs some new bearings, rear tires and some polishing. I gonna keep it "as it is" as much as possible.

Now, some comments? And suggestions about Mid's electrics!

Cheers,
Antti

Very nice. Thanks for sharing! Awesome that you still get some wheel time with the Turbo Optima Mid. And the Raider was always a car I wanted when I was younger for some reason.

Thanks about nice comments!

My new Raider Pro arrived some days ago:

It's in very good condition. It's just a roller at the moment, there's only Reedy Outlaw motor bolted under the body. Need to buy ESC, steering servo and servosaver to get this beaty to a runner! That yellow colour suits this one.

Hello!

Nothing interesting happened for a long time. But today I got this kind of stuff:

Complete car is Raider ARR/Turbo Raider hybrid and I think that empty chassis is rest of the ARR. There came all kinds of good stuff, like missing servosaver parts for Pro, gold shocks, Mid rear tires, some bags of new parts, manuals etc.

I think I restore that ARR, I need for that just new rear tires, body and decals. Other parts just need cleaning.

Ordered some time ago new tires from Marwan and Fast Eddy bearings for Mid. Still waiting them.

What kind of brushless technics I should look for these cars? I'm complete noob with these electric cars and there are millions of different motors, ESC's, batteries etc. So please help! :?

Since your mid is swb. I suggest soft case lipo packs about 4000mah. For esc and motor a hobbywing ezrun 9t sensorless or hobbyking 100a esc with 8.5t combo would be great. You can program the punch on the esc. I use the hk 8.5t combo but i have some mods on my car that helps like a b4 slipper clutch and custom layshaft, custom center gear. Oh yes important thing..use geardiffs at the rear. This will ensure your sprockets wont get pushed out of position under acceleration.

Thanks about info alcyon. Because my car is Turbo Mid, it should have geardiffs already. Yes I have saw those B4 slipper layshafts, but question is, does anybody make them for sale?

I ordered Hobbywing Ezrun 13t brushless combo some days ago for that Raider Pro.

Jake (Seabass) makes the B4 slippers - I don´t know if he´s got any on ebay.
But he had a couple for sale in the BST section, don´t know if there´s any left. But perhaps if You pray and beg hard enough, he´ll make You one 8)
Don´t tell him I sent you
