The rarest car in my fleet!

This buggy is rare, not for what it is,(optima mid custom as far as I can tell) but for how it is. Its basically finished! (except for the pan) It may take a while to get the pan the way I like it,, having artist block right now. Anyway, I have showed you folks this car a couple times. First time is when I dug it out of storage from 7 or 8 years ago. I built the chassis that long ago. It had black zx shock towers, and old wheels and tires. So, past few months it has gotten some nice blue zx shock towers, a turnigy trackstar brushless system, and a turnigy radio set. Servo is JR z590m, and the battery is a turnigy nanotech 4200. Wing mount is alloy,, from pargu?

Mechanically, this buggy has a Trinity 1 way in front, and its now got a fresh gear diff in back. Has new thorp gears, factory spur protector(slipper?), front UJ axles, full ball bearings, alloy chassis, fresh belt and all covers are new. Shocks are twin caps from first gen ultima rb. Wheels and tires are some ebay things that were cheap,, 2.2 size,, and they are really quite nice! Pretty sure those are some kind of titanium turnbuckles on the camber links.

Body is a Marwan optima mid custom with his sticker set too. Wing is a BRP that was hiding in the bottom of my body box. I am quite pleased with it. Needs perhaps some window trim, and the pan.

I like how you managed to match the wheel color with the bottom part of the 2-tone paint-job.

Very nice, do the wheels glow in the dark? I believe those are technacraft tie rods. I would be interested to see how the gears hold up to brushless.

Thanks guys! This is my first attempt at a finished product in yeeeaaars. My details are a smidge rough, but yes,, This is fun. Im going to do another.

Oh and by the way, I have the esc set up for either minimum or no drag brake, to preserve the gears. The car has enough grunt to pop mild wheely on full throttle acceleration with a fresh charge, and it tops out much faster than any brushed car I had ever run. Very satisfying finished performance. It only sees occasional speed passes up and down the street. This one has a very quiet drive train. I built another,, a turbo se, with also new internals and thorp gears, and its very noisy. Im wondering why. Might have to tear it apart and see if something isnt aligned.

Just beautiful! Love the body color scheme, the matching wheels, the brushless set up. Next time you take it out, have someone take video and post it on youtube, so we can all enjoy :D

Thanks very much! I think I like those tires better than my old favorites which were dirt hawgs. By all calculations, this buggy should be a handful with a loosy rear diff and 1 way front,, plus enough power to lift the front,, but those tires really keep it in check! Ill probably get more, in different colors.
