Remove glued servo from predator lynx

Post by Bong024 »

I just picked up a composite craft predator lynx in good shape. In cleaning it up my only real concern is that the servo which is frozen up( it's been sitting a long time) is glued to the chassis. Is there a known trick to remove this servo. Be it chemical, heat, etc. I have never dealt with a graphite chassis before so your input it greatly appreciated. I'll post pics of the car when I get home tonight.

depends on the glue, but the graphite should be pretty tough. if it's crazy glue,(CA) then a soak in acetone should do the trick without damage to the graphite.

Acetone desolves most glue types - and some types of paint and clear coat for that matter.
Test it where the bulkheads etc. mounts.
The clever guys doesn´t dip the entire thing - they put elevated in a container with acetone so it´s just the fumes doing the trick. I´m still looking forward to reach that level of smartness.

If You don´t need the servo, I´d try boiling the chassis as the first thing.
The freezer is supposed to manipulate the glue aswell.

maybe you'll be lucky and find out it's only shoe goo. try hitting it with a heat gun to see if it becomes pliable.

That's the problem, it was done so cleanly that I can't see what was used. I was mainly worried about acetone damaging the chassis. Also didn't want to do a snatch and twist. I'll have to get a better look at it tonight. Thanks for the tip.
