Everybody do this ASAP!!!

Post by Mochanic »

Right now RPM Products is asking how many people on their Facebook page would like to see them bring back their discontinued parts, so PLEASE go there and tell them your opinion, we need all the support we can get so they will revive our dwindling parts supply asap! They have quite a few youngsters that have probably never even seen an RC10 that are against it, so lets show them we are still going strong!

Please send tell everybody you know to do the same!
Mods can we make this a sticky on all of the vintage forums?

RPM = late to the party

it's nice to see that the years and years of emails from members on this site and elsewhere asking them to remake some of their old parts has finally gotten them to step up and ask people if we want them to remake some old parts.

was that directed towards me?

RPM can go ahead and make any old part they want, that's their right. just like any Associated remaking the rc10. my point is, they could've been doing this for years already. it's not as if they haven't been hounded about it. now they want to re-tool to pop out some old parts (and we all know that it's the rc10 re-release that has sparked this) while Associated is going to have full parts support to their vehicles? they can take a break from making flesh toned nut sacks long enough to do that now?

if they start making stuff again, i'm sure i'll buy some of it. i'm not against them doing it. i just find it irritating that they could've been embracing the vintage market for a long time already. and instead of just doing it, they ask us if we want them to do it? come on.... they've been asked for years.

It was not directed at you and was sarcastic of course. I fully agree with about RPM and I won't add a comment to that page, they should already know indeed. That being said, I'm no big fan of these re-releases honestly, to me it just kills somewhat the genuine vintage aspect of it all, although I also see the advantages... Anyway, I don't want to open that debate again, it's basically useless.

Done.

It's a simple matter of what they perceive as the market demand and whether that will provide enough return on investment. An occasional email over the course of years does not justify a substantial investment on their part to retool, which imposes an opportunity cost for making parts for new cars where the volume demand is much higher. We may like to think of ourselves as a substantial vintage community, but you have to put yourself in their shoes and look at it as a business. If you were their chief financial officer, you would surely have some pretty nice numbers to show for total Traxxas Slash parts sales. If that's what keeps their business alive for the time being, then so be it.

Complaining about them not acting earlier is pointless. They are ready to do it now, and we should be embracing that rather than griping about it or "punishing" them by not responding to their query because they "should have known better" earlier on. You have to go with the flow on these things. Right now, the planets are aligned so that this could work for their business, and I think that's great. I would surely not mind picking up a few RC10T gearboxes and bulkheads, or some YZ10 870 arms and bulkheads, without getting scalped by some hoarder off of eBay.

I wasn't complaining about them remaking parts. I was complaining about them asking if we want them to remake parts. We've been adking for many years, just make some crap already.
