New old guy here from CA!

Post by VintageFanatic »

Hello everyone -

New member from Southern California here introducing myself. Started in the hobby back in '91/'92 and have tried to stay involved in one way or another ever since. I don't race nearly as much as I used to, but I am an avid collector of vintage R/C stuff - especially the early Associated.

I've had friends in the R/C community trying to get me on here for a few years now and haven't done so until now, just wish I had joined earlier! Looking forward to learning and growing vintage knowledge with all of the guys on here that clearly know their stuff

Most of my collection is unbuilt, but I've got a few built out that I'll post some pictures on when i get a chance.

Thanks,
Ryan

Small world! Nice collection you have there - it inspires me to get a few of my vintage kits in race trim going again. I'm one of those guys that either leaves 'em NIB or built and polished on a shelf. I suppose we can only get so much satisfaction out of that

Copy. I can't afford the boxes and packaging  . I always get 'em covered in grime and dust and then restore to runable. Only in two cases, with the a stock super champ and an rps 834b, did I say whoa..maybe that needs to stay on the wall.

You're right, cardboard and plastic sure gets expensive! I'm actually looking at an old roller on ebay right now - thinking of trying my first gold tub restoration project. If I don't get too crazy about details, it could wind up a really cool runner.

Don't know how long you've been in SD, but any tracks or clubs you'd recommend in the Aliso area? We just moved down here last year from Costa Mesa and OCRC has become quite a drive up there in HB.
