Hey everyone got this for few buks from hobbyking. It is perfect for removing gears from top shafts to do rpm 2.65 trans with b4 top shaft. Also great at removing pins from driveshafts at outdrive end to replace pins for those that have removable pins that is.

Yeah, I've considered adding that tool to my toolbox...someday I will break down and buy it.

What exactly is it? I mean is i meant for pulling gears? It almost looks like a chain breaker tool.

I have an old Parma pinion puller that's pretty similar, pretty handy

Yeah it is a pinion removal tool and gear puller,i thought it may work as a tool to pull the gear off the rpm top shaft because i don't have access to a press and it worked fine. A mate asked about some cvd pins for his 1/8 buggy and this tool was great at getting the pins most of the way out easily..http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__11447__Turnigy_Pinion_Removal_Tool.html

The same basic idea as a Pitman arm puller. Imagine you have a pinion gear or bearing stuck on a shaft. The flat bottom part of the tool slots in behind the gear or bearing. You tighten the T-handle, which presses the pointy part against the shaft and as the pressure increases, it pulls the flat part towards the pointed part, and ultimately pulls the gear/bearing off the shaft. It's much less likely to damage the gear or bearing than trying to pry it off with some other tool.

not sure if it would work or not but it looks like you could use to pop off stubborn roll pins too

That's pretty cool. It could have definitely saved me some grief trying to pull drive-pins over the years. :x
