Found a pic of myself racing

Post by orangemazda »

I found a pic of myself when going through family pics on Christmas.

I think its a pic om me at the Regionals in Idaho? 1989 maybe?

This is when I had a partial sponsorship from Andys so I was running the Andys chassis and body. Looks like I had a trailing arm setup too. And I'm rocking the pink associated shirt and as always, my lucky Jack Daniels black hat!

That was my "go to" paint job on all my bodies back then...pink fade to orange fade to yellow.

I may do a OIN someday with a similar but cooler paint job.

That's a cool pic! That chassis looks quite long for it's time?

I can't remember, it's been so long ago. I'll have to ask my friend Clayton. I went with his family, we drove 2 vehicles there and I had to drive his moms van because it was a 5-speed and my friend couldn't drive a stick at that time.

Nice picture.
What ever happened to the car, the shirt and the hat?

The car was sold to buy the newest RC10 at the time.

The shirt...I actually remember that it became stained or ripped so I used it as a shop rag...

The hat was an old style mesh "trucker" style hat. The mesh deteriorated over time but I do still have the Jack Daniels patch from the front and the U.S. flag patch I had on the back. I could not however find the really cool MIP button I had on the side of the hat.

My intent is to someday buy a plain black fitted hat and see if I can have someone sew the patches back on...kinda like an OIN hat restoration!

I wish, like I'm sure most of you wish, that I would have known back then what I'd have nostalgic feelings for now, and saved those things in a big box.

Yes they did, and I got them not long after this pic. In fact I think I still have a couple of the Andys trailing arm camber blocks in the bottom of my track box...
