Edit: American Racing RC10 Sprint Car conversion. Thanks to Phin for the identification. Now this will be picture heavy as I'm a bit of a pic whore.

Looks like an American Racing sprint car but the rear fuel tank cage may be borrowed from a BBT or Ascot/RCRC. The American car just had a flat band of aluminum plate around the rear.

Can only find one expired auction ad and that's about it. I've never heard of American Racing. Anyone know anything about them?

Ok, so this trade is about to go down. Shipping off my Short Course tomorrow. But here's some pics of what he's sending me. He states the Sprinter has the transmission and shock tower but just in case, picking up the other RC10 just in case I need parts. Looks rough. But I'm sure I can do something with it.

Some reference photos I was shown off Dirtoval.com. Believe he said Roy Anderson was the owner of this beauty.

Sprint tub looks rough but salvageable. The cut outs on the sides may have been to mount the battery stick across the chassis?


And I still haven't found a body for my RBS Sprinter.

Dang it, now have to retype this whole thing as I closed the window while posting last pic. Here we go. Phin, I have a couple of brand new vintage bodies. One is a RCRC Gambler. I really like it a lot and now down to my last one. I refused to cut it up in hopes to one day have it re popped. But finding others to chip in so I'm not stuck with a ton of bodies has been the problem. But I might just have to bite the bullet and then put some on Crackbay. I also have a Protoform body that is more narrow and I really like the detail of the driver. I also have a bolink driver for the sprint cars. Not really that detailed in my opinion but could be what some would need for their builds. Again, I think once I recover from the holidays and take a break from buying RC10s, I might look into have these reproduced.

The Gambler is one of the bodies I've been keeping an eye out for...as is the Parma Challenger. The Protoforms are really slick looking but I think they're too "new" for my car.

Ok, so this turd finally arrived today with bent cage, riveted shock mounting, no transmission as promised, etc. Does have some really neat looking aluminum rims though. What the heck did I get myself into? I am really regretting the trade as I lost on this one.

I'm going to email Roy, but wondering what your takes are on this folks. Do I attempt to somehow save this chassis or try to have it recreated? The rear arm holes are worn out so much you have to use big @ss washers. And let's just talk about tweak. This is photos after I took a wooden mallet to it to get some of the bends out of it. AGH.

I'd make a new chassis. Either out of one piece of bent aluminum like the original or something custom made out of fiberglass with aluminum side panels like the BBT or Ascots.

Odds are good that the type of aluminum used to make the chassis was 2024 like the RBS used.

Just got off the phone with a guy that does a lot of fab work locally on our family's race cars. Looks like I'll be taking him the tub over and see what he can't do. If he's not asking too much, might have him do up two so if I screw up the first one, I'll have a second one.
