I increased the length of my chassis by a full 10mm, and you can too with this one weird secret!

1/16" carbon fiber chassis plate. Arm mounting holes and transmission holes are moved 1cm back. I cut it with a coping saw. Can you tell?


Shock tower is relocated to behind back of chassis. That accounts for 7mm. 3mm spacer is 3D printed and holds the ball joints for the upper arm.
The whole thing is solid and works pretty well. Moves the battery weight forward relative to the rear axle giving a little more front grip. Longer wheelbase gives a bit more stability on throttle out of the turns.

Interesting! I wonder how the length would compare to a B4.2?

According to AE's site, B4.2 Race spec has a wheelbase of 273mm, and Factory Team is 281mm. My wheelbase now is 283mm, closer to that of the RB6 and 22

nice! How does it turn at low speeds, still acceptable?

How did you solve the rear motor mount/rear guard? Could be important because of flex issues Can you post pictures of the rear of the car?

Well, I race dirt oval, so I slow corners aren't really something I encounter a lot. I drove it on a large off road track (1:8 scale) and I didn't see any problems with a lack of steering at all either. Maybe on a tighter track some problems may start to surface, but I don't think its something that can't be solved with a little fine tuning. I think in general, that extra 1cm was worth it. It definitly feels solid.

As for pictures, I'll take a couple when I have it put back together. There wasn't much of a stiffness issue with the motor plate, but to be safe I replaced the carbon fiber with an aluminum plate that my buddy made for me. It extends all the way back and curves up just like the stock one to stiffen the motor plate.
