Yes 2.2 wheels again !!!!!

I know this thread has been mentioned lots on here. But after loads of reading I don't seem to be able to find a definitive answer that I'm after. This wheel situation is really confusing ???? I'm just finishing off my RC10 restoration. And I'd like to fit some b2/b3 wheels to the rear I want to use proper associated wheels 9490 as I can get my hands on a few pairs of those wheels. I won't put aftermarket or spokes on it as they won't suit the car. The rear of my car is fitted with MIP 1007 cvd's. So obviously I don't want to be putting dog bones or stub axles on it either. What's really confusing me is that in the b2/3 manuals it uses a similar if not the same 7830 as the MIP 1007 (I.e it's slightly coned before the axle thread) and the 9490 wheels that I have. So surely they should fit. But no the 9490 wheels have a flat type of fitment. This really makes no sense to me. This suggests that the b3/2 wheels didn't actually fit the b3/2.......weird ????

Please help ????

Would that be MIP part number 1009 for the axle ????

Those are 1/4" axles on your car. You need 3/16" axles for the B2/3 wheels in your pic.

The Associated part # for a 3/16 CVD axle is ASC7380 and they look like this:

As per PM, keep your 1/4" stepped UJs and just buy 2.2" AE wheels I linked to. This is what I do.

Those wheels on the pm are the same as I already have in the picture.

Is the asc7380 not a part off the truck ??? Thus wouldn't it be to long for my car ?? :?

No they are not the same.

Your wheels have a flush hole to suit a flush 3/16" axle UJ.

The wheels I posted have a STEPPED hole to suit a STEPPED 1/4" axle UJ - as used on the original RC10 :)

Hi again.......I've managed to locate a pair of the 7380. Can you now tell me what size bearings I need ????

That's a tricky bearing. You may be able to find them but they are not common. It's a 3/16"x3/8" flanged.

The better method is to use 3/16 x 3/8 unflanged (like the truck) and swap carriers to the truck style carriers.

0 degree #7365

1.5 degree #7367

Or buy the #6802 rear wheel conversion set and swap for you cvd axles. It comes with everything you need to run those wheels

just to add some more information. The B2 and B3 sport models used the 1/4" axles and 'sport' wheels. The team models used 2.2" wheels that used 3/16" axles. So both are 'right' for a B2 or B3, just depends which model you have.

the b2 used 3 pc wheels for sport model, and the b3 used one piece wheels. B3 sport wheels are 9490Y and team wheels are 9491. you need the 9490y wheels to be direct drop on the axles you have.

or drill the wheels you have out slightly to fit the 1/4" axles.

if you indeed have 9490 wheels, it might be that the 9490Y(as in yellow) were unique for the B3 and 9490 standard(white) are for 3/16" axles. pretty unfortunate. 9490Y wheels will be hard to find.
