This is just a teaser, but I will chronicle the build as it happens. Not sure what exactly it's gonna be yet, other than the plan is to use a blue tub with HPI RS4 diffs front and rear, B44 C-hubs and steering blocks, and regular old CVDs front and rear. Don't know yet if I'm going to run a center diff or a solid shaft with a slipper.
Ideas welcome! Nothing set in stone at this time, and much is yet to be decided.

interesting - maybe something that can be reapplied to buggies
RS4 diffs and shaft drive might not work well together, though

Just tossing this out there but why not TC3 diffs to keep it all Associated?
Watching to see how this progresses

Yeah....really would only consist of adjusting shafts lengths.

The older style:

More difficult mounting, smaller, plastic gears. The RS4 diffs will be stronger internally, and mounted more easily without tying into chassis braces. I considered using Prolite diffs, but they're larger both dimensionally and in terms of outdrive sockets, so that creates some challenges. The RS4 outdrives are very close to AE, just need to be opened up slightly.
That, and I scored a pair of brand new take-offs for $19

I have no experience with shaft drive RS4's or TC3's. should be cool when you're done.

Well, it's been a slow go, mainly just because other projects have been more important. But we're starting to make some progress.
Just ordered the B44 front parts, and a set of T4 CVDs.
Will update again when there is a little more progress!

That's a really steep angle on the back drive shaft. Does it bind at all? It looks like more of an angle than you'd normally get with truck/buggy rear suspension. Maybe more than that setup was designed for? I know even u-joints have issues with steep drive angles.
The front one also looks like it may bind at the front diff, where the actual shaft might contact the outdrive edges. If there's no contact, it's gotta be close.
Edit: Just realized this was a year-and-a-half old thread.
