BLACKARBON RC10 THE CAR IS NOW READY

Today I started to built an version that has as many parts made of carbon as possible.
The chassis is the original ae carbon chassis.
Today I made the left side of the servosavers.
Almost 2 hours to make but its ready.
Next part will be the right side servosaver.

The part has 2 ballbearrings so it is super smooth.

Very interesting! I've been thinking about doing this for a while but I've never gotten around to buying the carbon fiber. I can't wait to see more! Great work on the Bell crank, by the way.

I did big changes today of the part.
Now it is almost ready and it looks now like the A&L.

What drill bits are you using? Do you like them? When I made my chassis it dulled my bits to butter knifes after about ten holes. Also my countersink bit. Dull.....

for carbon fiber or other laminates, particularly kevlar, you usually use carbide for long tool life. For most guys, any good HSS drill should last a good long while, even more if it's bright or Titanium nitride finished. The key is to get real industrial drills, not the cheap-o junk you might find at home depot etc. Also helps to use a drill press or mill, hand drilling can cause bits to wear or break, especially in small sizes.

Exactly, for example the diamond carbide bits I use in my router are from a manufacturing plant that sells off the bits after a certain amount of cuts or hours. Perfect for my use! Cut like buttttttaaaaa

Nice project. Will keep an eye on this for sure. The bellcranks look really good.

Do you plan on using ballast or equivalent to balance out the car (depending how far you go with the carbon parts )

I put 7hours on this project today.

I took the shakedown today....
What a car to drive.
So neutral to drive.
The steering is superb.
The car feels very light.
