Couple years ago I drilled an old flat bladed screw driver and bolted on a jig saw blade. Just letting you guys know, works way better than any orange plastic thing hanging in the produce isle:

That's acrually related to how I got the idea. My dad would use his Skil jig saw, because he'd have 3-4 big ones to do every year. The screwdriver works for the little tiny Californian grocery store ones too.

I'd just go with a drywall keyhole saw, it's got a better handle, and comes in different styles to suit your particular needs/tastes.

The handle on this one causes cramps, but I just keep using it out of tradition or something. About 5 years or so and the blade is warped, but I just can't bring myself to replace it. My daughter and I have always done two pumpkins a year with it. Here's this year's efforts. We usually have artistic differences...
