10T Chassis

Post by ca-rj »

I'm starting to clean/assemble my Ebay 10T and noticed that the rear of the chassis seems to be bent a little. Should the whole chassis be flat or is there a little bit of angle to the rear portion of the chassis? I'm going to be seriously pissed off if this chassis is a write off.

yup shoulld be completely flat, the only kick-up is in the nose plate which is a separate piece, and the rear up-curve around the motor.

They usually straighten out pretty well just be patient, you can make it worse if you rush it or get frustrated.

I'm going to get another chassis. This one is going to be raced so I want to be sure the chassis is right otherwise the suspension geometry will be off and cause funky handling.

You'll find that even some BNIP chassis are slightly bent and need some tweaking.

I highly doubt the suspension geometry with be off and exhibit funky handling with a slightly bent chassis, nor would you be able to tell in any way, especially if you are running it as a truck with big balloon tires.

you can easily straighten it out with a vise, some wood blocks, maybe a 200lb'er stepping on it in just the right spot. you can also tweak by flexing the sides in or out to get what you need.

I have found the rear of the chassis can end up bent upwards if the holes in the chassis and the motor plate don't line up before you screw them together. Use some aluminum spacers in between the chassis and the motor plate to keep the chassis flat.

+1.

Even the hell-for-stout blue tub GT chassis get tweaked. These things take some serious abuse on the track.

I'd rather start out with a non damaged chassis than one that is already tweaked.

After I've built my truck and I'm bored, I might try to straighten it out.

Spare chassis tubs tend to turn into whole vehicles after some time. Fair warning.

Tis a possibility. So far this month I've acquired a Classic, 10T and just bought a CE.
