So, Im trimming my new marwan opt mid lwb body set, and go to fit a gear cover. Uhoh, none of the 5 on hand will fit. They are all apparently for lazer.

Question, what cover do I need? Its a lwb optima mid with lazer zx shock towers. The motor plate does not hit the shock tower, so there shouldnt be any special need?

I guess the real concern is that the opt mid gear covers on ebay all look like lazer gear covers. Is there a specific feature difference so I can identify one from the other?

Looks to me like an Optima Mid gear cover. TeamBlueGroove sells repro's, but be forewarned that they just BARELY fit...they're a slight bit undersized because TBG does repros of existing bodies, not molds, so everything they make is just a tad smaller than it's supposed to be...but I guess the price is right. You'll pay a lot more for an OEM cover, I'm sure.

Hopefully this next batch of parts incoming will have some mid gear covers. If not, Ill order up some of those tbg parts. They have a nice selection of repro lexan.

You know that Marwan RC make those too right? They come with the belt protection kit. Here's the link for the LWB kit.

That's actually a good price for all that Lexan, and with Marwan, you know you'll be getting the correctly-sized parts. I've bought Optima bodies from both Marwan & TBG, Marwan's are more clearly detailed and not a few percent undersized. I found the Lexan of TBG bodies was nice and thick, but the overall clarity of the body details & lines is rather indistinct. With a body as detailed as the Optima, this makes it a real challenge to paint.
