My RC10T and T2 Projects

Heya all,

I had no plans at all to have a project T2, in fact I was not planning on buying any at all and was not even looking for one.... and then someone sent me the carcass of one as a bonus when they took too long sending my XXKE and 10t projects.

Looks pretty doesn't it?

It's only really lacking shocks, turnbuckles, steering gear, axles, a hub and wheels/tires as major bits. Minor bits the list gets Loooong.

I am planning on getting all the pieces, used or new, to complete it... and then disassemble it, clean it all up, bag up the parts, print out the instruction manual, and give it to a friend who is fairly new to RC cars. The aluminum tub cars have always been one of those lines that I thought of as very durable so it should work well.

I dug out some shocks and some turnbuckles that won't end up staying with it just to enthuse myself with the plan a bit. It's amazing what a small change makes such a large visual impact.

I've ordered some used parts from ebay and some new parts from associated web site so far. At this point the big things to find will be that battery hold down and the ATC slipper plates.. Ugh. I will probably have to change it to the t4 setup even if I don't want to.

if you're giving that to a newbie, send me your address. i have some spares left over from a used t2 i picked up awhile back to build another one of my B1.5's.

there's a set of arms, shock towers, bulkheads, maybe some hub carriers....... a ziploc bag of parts.

Well I have been scrubbing and cleaning. I also went through the manual and wrote up a bag list and what parts went where. My plan is to make him build the truck, that is such a large part of the hobby that has been lost it seems and I don't know of any current vehicle out now that I consider as durable as one of the old nylon and aluminium associated bricks.

I have been considering refinishing the aluminum parts but am unsure what the most durable way would be, if anyone out there has tips or suggestions I would be all ears!

I have a new kit body coming from AE, have not been able to find anything in the way of decals. I have cheap front 3 piece wheels coming but still need rears.

I am so evil.... As for the manual, that is to much work... and evil doesn't like work! So I am just printing out the T2 manual from Associated

Talk about restoring a car... has anyone else restored one to kit form?

I just spontaneously started a NEW project due to boredome! AND now I either need a replacement chassis for the kit or a chassis for the project... and a white Stealth transmission

The project is marching along slowly, more and more checkmarks on my checklist. I am still trying hard to find a battery holder for less then $18+ shipping that and I need to find some rear 3 piece rims that is not going to be cheap...

I managed to pick up a t4 rtr carcass that still had it's blue shocks, the rears are a hair too long, but I don't think .07 inch longer will really hurt at all. I still have to buy a complete t3 slipper setup and a diff rebuild kit. I am thinking after cross checking that the diff rebuild kit for the sc10 will drop right in? And is the MIP kit for the sc10 for MIP's version of the diff? Or will it work on the stock diff?

Also, I am considering refinishing the chassis back to the semigloss/mat black, I am sure people out there have done something like this, what are some average prices you have paid to get them re anno'd and where did you send them?

I would if I had a Jeep... but what I have is actually cooler Working on RC for now, next month I pull it off the road and tear it back apart to finish the body and paint it hopefully.

what are some average prices you have paid to get them re anno'd and where did you send them?

If your not in a huge hurry I will be sending out a batch to be anno'd black soon- stripping in a week or so and black anno the following. It runs $20 to strip and $40 to anno as a shop minimum, but splitting it up with a few people it would be very cheap. I have at least one other besides me already. I have never exceeded the ship minimum charge and I have taken in piles of pieces

If you wanted to get crazy I will be doing a few different colors soon as well.

These were all done by my local shop (advanced precision anodizing)

That anno option sounds interesting, I am still waiting on a couple ebay purchases to get here so I can get all my 'needs to be redone' pieces together. Silly me was trying to collect parts to build a t1 and I end up buying a complete one for less then I would have spent building one... It's a /little/ dirty but it should clean up. I am EAGER to get it =)

Managed to pick up a nib motor guard for the T2 although the battery brace is still elusive.

I have also realized that getting all the parts to kit-ify this for the kid to build is getting expensive... especially as I still need to locate all the radio gear for it. Inspiration hit me while sitting on the throne (isn't that where it always hits?) I want to disect a Duratrax Evader and figure out what from it I can make fit on my XX and XXT. And they were actually cheaper then what I have left to buy for the T2 And with Tower's discounts and bonuses I end up with a $150 2.4ghx waterproof brushed truck with 2 batteries 1500mah and 2000mah that is ready to go. Well the kid is getting an evader... BUT he still will have to build it first, yes I am just that evil This is a hobby this is not a toys r us pull it out of the box and drive car

Of course I get to take it apart and test the for of much of it first, win win. I get to test evader parts, he gets to build a rtr truck that has a 1 year guarantee against parts breakage. And I don't get stuck with an evader at the end... Losi and Associated whee!

I also got my $60 used Edinger in.. but that will be a story for a different post.

I would love the scans to complete my t2 manual, and I know what you mean with dried up... looking at the ebay ended items history and it's chock full of those parts >.<

I have decided to edit the topic of this listing and add my 10t into the topic, I purchased it on ebay for a decent price for what looked like a fairly stock 10t with box and manual and extras. I finally got it in hand and I must say, it's all I was expecting and maybe a little more. I have not tested the speed controls yet but the radios all worked as did the 75mhz recievers I could test. The truck itse;f was in decent shape aside from it's french vanilla colored plastics. Turns out I recieved in that lot;
