Crazy Nick's "I feel a need to explain"

Sova few months ago I slowly got out of racing and crawling and got into vintage. My big plan wss to get 3 cars. An rc10 gold pan, rc10gt black pan, and an aristocraft kangaroo. Well now that all three are aquired my wife decided to stomp on my months of planning and spending. All I wanted was to restore these cars and shelf them in the living room. All my life people who know me know I am huge into r/c and have been forever. So my plan was to show people thd cars on the wall and explain how and why it all started. But my wife as usual thinks it will give people a low class redneck vision of us. So both rc10 and rc10gt are now near perfect condition f/s on other sites. IT BY NO MEANS is because of anyone or anything bad about this site. Everyone is helpful and shows attention when asked. Sorry for the book.

Sounds like the Missus's britches need some rearrangement. Maybe to a smaller size
lots of luck on the sale, sorry to hear about it.

so because you can't display them in the living room you get rid of them at all?

Not sure how to respond to that. There are people on this site alone from all walks of life let alone r/c. That is what is great about it. It doesn't matter nor does anyone care what your social status may be. I stopped worrying what people may think long ago and I have had no problems from it. Best of luck with your marriage, hope all goes well.

I get harassed all the time for being 37 and playing with toy cars.
I wish you would consider keeping them and storing them in a place where they can be brought out and enjoyed yet put away to adhere to your rules. It's more important to keep the woman on the pedestal than the toys, if there isn't room for both

That sucks! I trust her nik naks are perfectly acceptable.
Not to rub it in, but my wife actually likes the cars I have on display. She appreciates my hobby and knows it keeps me out of trouble.
I agree with scr8p... keep the cars and break them out every time she pisses you off. As you head out, make sure to remind her to dust the nik naks

Not to take her side but I can see where she is coming from. It depends on how you were going to display them. I have 10 in my living room but their in a wood and glass hutch off in one unused corner of the living room. Eventhough this is all my house, meaning I don't have to answer to a wife, I'm not so sure I want to keep them there. Is there another room in your place you could display them in?

Tell the wife that man has to have a hobby and that yours is going to be drugs, alcohol, other women, or toy cars, it's her choice.

Having a woman who
unreasonably quashes a man's hobby is a very unfortunate situation. I say "unreasonably" because some guys' hobbies take over the whole house. That would be just as unfortunate to the lady. Your projects obviously shouldn't proliferate throughout the kitchen, bedroom, dining room, etc. but then again, it's just as unreasonable to not be permitted to have a small display area. I'm not sure where the line is drawn for you two, but don't you have a man-cave? Every man needs his cave. It doesn't need to be big, but you need it.
If the wifey won't allow you your own area to make a cave, you need to grow a pair.

That's a bit harsh, I'm kinda joking...but only kinda.

I myself, am very picky. when our friends come over, with their kids, or our niece's, and nephews, they can play with what ever their heart feel like picking up, and dropping,.......but when it comes with my stuff, off limits. (that period is for thumbs by the way

) I have my own little room, and all is fine, I just close the door when trouble is at foot

But if I were pressed for space (and I am) I'd maybe have a nice class display case to house a few, Some cars a really works of art! I mean if my wife can have her crappy precious moments behind glass, some vintage AE cant hurt......Right

My wife does her thing and I do mine...She knows that I have always been into rc cars and that will not change...And yes I have brought up the point that I could be one of those guys that is always out at the bars...She doesn't complain to much especially when one of her friends starts bitchin about how her husband is never home because he is out running the roads...When that happens I always look at her and say "See how lucky you got...I just play with toys lol "
