B44: What's New Is Getting Older

I've had this idea in my head for a long time, and finally started a B44 street build that pays tribute to the old Yokomo's.

So far I've added these parts:

- Pro-Line Featherlight Yokomo wheels with custom aluminum adapters
- Pro-Line Road Hawgs
- Tekin 410K esc
- Novak NER-2x receiver
- Trinity P2K Paradox 27T motor (A little too new, I know :D )
- Futaba S-148 servo
- Futaba Magnum Sport radio
- Replaced stock plastic wing mount with aluminum wing buttons and homemade aluminum mounts
- RPM spring cups and added limiters to lower shocks

Parts I'm planning to use:

- Pro-Line Vortex B44 body and wing -OR- Bugle Boy Racing B44.1985 body
- Tecnacraft ti-rods with RPM rod ends
- RPM rear hub carriers
- Blue parts will be re-anno'd pink
- Maybe a Reedy Mr. series motor
- Maybe some Orion 2000 or 5300 cells, but I have to swap out the LiPo trays to use those

I gave this thing a shakedown run after programming the Tekin and it's pretty quick for a 27T. This is the first time I've ever ran a 410K and now I can see why it was praised years ago. It's so easy to program and is still my favorite esc ever made.

Really liking this, what's the part number on those font tyres? I can only seem to find the 2.2 sized rears?

Very nice, indeed. I'd like to know P/N's for both fronts & rears. :)

Thanks for that!

Maybe we should have a full 'new is kinda old' thread? Suddenly I got an urge to fit old school electronics in a Durango Dex410!

Imex still makes tires with the same tread for 2.0" tires but calls them Sedan Hawgs:

That looks great! You know, I think half of my problem with the way modern buggies look is the wheels and tires. I just don't like plain dish wheels that are too big for the car. Especially fluorescent yellow ones. Nice simple clean paint job, too, instead of the busy 10 color swoopy-with-carbon-flames garbage. I really like this.

I love the proline wheels. I've put those on every yokomo that I've built. I've got one more to build, but I can;t find a pair of fronts.

How about a Yokomo body? Will any of them fit the B44?

I finally got around to what I call Project P44.

I swapped out the Trinity motor for a Reedy Mr. F's and trimmed the Pro-Line Vortex B44 body, wing and underbody. I had the pink parts anno'd by the place gomachv uses and added some Tecna's with RPM ends. I threw in some Perfect Match Panasonic P-170 SCR's and a lexan antenna. I also eliminated both body mounts/posts and will attach the body with velcro to keep it clean with absolutely no holes.

I'd like to find a Yokomo molded wing and maybe some wheel dots.

Nice, I think it looks better with the pink & purple bits! Almost makes you not want to mount the body. 8)

I'm always torn when it comes to bodies, they cover up my favorite parts of the vehicle.

That is a real nice build, I've been eyeing a set of Road Hawgs on my shelf and a Street Weapon chassis that I want to cram them on.

Very cool representation. It looks a like a classic 4wd screamer. :D
