The long awaited resto of our childhood 12's has been something I've been wanted to do for a long time and finally, the time has come :D We both bought these with our own $ and ran the hell out of them. There's bits left of course from BITD, but not worthy for any shelf  I guess guilt caught up with me since we beat these so badly, we were just 10 and 12 yrs old  Our folks were like hey it's your $, but we didn't care we were kids  It brings back so many memories it's crazy. His kit was the graphite version and mine was the white fiberglass version. Of course there will be some hop-up differences but will try to build them as we would if $ wasn't an issue back then  The NIP bodies I bought for this are two of the same we ran with back then that were eventually destroyed. My brother's 12 I plan to do first, then mine. Here's the start of My brother's 12 that I plan to give back to him as a surprise. There's tons of cool stuff with a giant parts bag and even a NIP Jaguar! I'll be starting this weekend, I'm totally stoked  HAHA yeeaaah my brother isn't getting all the white parts or that nip litesink, those are mine  My personal build will soon follow this one and I'll put both on this thread. Cheers! :)

Almost done, just need to pick a radio and a motor. I'll be reusing my brothers Novak t4 for the esc. :D The servo is taped down, could bring myself to drill it  it's ok like that if it's not going to be run anyway. For the time being there's a basic trim job on the body and mount. Painting will be decided by my brother, he can do it or I his choice  My 12 is next, but it's going to be a while before I have everything for that build. Photos...enjoy

Looking good, vintage with a modern twist. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks! I haven't decided on the electronics, full Novak stuff for two cars is crazy $ for shelfers. For this one I'm doing a replica XJR-5 #44, the body will be done soon. Sadly there's no way to replicate those wheels so the stock ones will have to do. It will look like this, I even made a custom wing for it :D

I grew up watching Hurley Haywood drive that Jag. What a beautiful scheme and car. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Oh, and about the wheels....jake is due back soon- and the previous set of wheels he made was awesome. May be able to create these?

Yep me too, my dad used to take us to Watkins Glenn for the races when we were kids 8) Now that I think of it, I guess that's why we got into 12's, we saw all these cars race summer after summer and we just had to have our own

I'm not sure if Jake would do wheels for 12's there's no real market there, and that's a sh*t -ton of work! I wanted a set of his 10's but just couldn't float the cash then, I regret that now of course

I'm sure we can twist his arm. Worth a shot anyway.

I just need to dangle that nib trx1 in front of him and he will do what we ask lol!

As for tires It's a shame at this point, the perfect tires for these cars have been oop for years (12th rubber slicks) I remember being able to get them all day long but not so anymore - I don't even remember who made them - there was slicks and mickey t treaded - MRC perhaps? I think I have a set of fronts, but the rears dry rotted on me long ago  Maybe there's something out there that will work, but I really have no idea.

Very nice car! You could always shoot the stock rims with Spazstix chrome or Alclad II. I think the stock wheels look nice in chrome or aluminum.

Here are some wheels I did with Alclad II. These were white and had black tire glue stains. I'll probably repaint them with Spazstix though as it's a more durable paint than Alclad II. Better than stock no?

Looks great and thanks for the tip 8)

Coincidentally, I think that's the same lola body I have for the other 12  I'll get to that one soon too, parts should be here any day now

That's a Parma Osella PA-9 from Stormers. Gomachav turned me on to it. I have a Lola T-160 on my RC12i.

I used to make inserts for the mesh wheels for static display and concours. You can start with some gold paper, laminate it to some thin cardboard, then print the mesh on a clear label and stick it to the gold paper. Paint the wheel rims with the shiniest silver you can find and it looks pretty good.
