Finally got myself an RC10 again!!

Well after 6506 days, or 17 years, 9 months and 23 days later, I have turned a wheel on an RC10. And although it was only up and down the garden, it did bring a huge smile and a buzz of excitement.

The plan is to race the car at club level after such a long break from racing. My confidence in my thumbs and been the wrong side of 50, means I'll use my modern buggy for the rigours of crashing and save this for more sedate racing and any vintage meets.

Although not up to the standard of many on this forum, the car has been put together as close to the car I had around 1990 when I fitted the then new Stealth box, except for using the modern electrics for ease and convenience. Still have a few things I would like to do like replacing the black plastic parts for white, U/Js, gold shock caps, some proper wheels and earlier steering bellcranks.

The body is from my 94 worlds car and was last used on 17th Sept 1995 at the 2wd RRC finals, at the Dowty track, here in the UK. Hasten to say body won't be used for racing, I was lucky enough to get the body back after all these years and so I've painted another one to use in anger.

Really enjoyed doing the project and although I raced the RC10 for many years back in the day, I have found this forum very useful along the way on helping out where the old grey matter needed refreshing. As to my next project, will it be another RC10, JRX2, JRX Pro or one of the Yokomo's I raced back then, this forum really can be contageous :D

Very tasteful upgrades - Looks awesome!

The tire/wheel combo is great. What are they? Can you show the adapter for the rear wheels? What are the parts from?

Thanks, Limestang

Proline did a few bodies for the RC10.

The one on J'MM'N's car is the Vision, and no it's not available...not even as a repro. :|

Thanks for all the kind remarks.

The body is the Proline Vision, back in the day I was undecided weather I liked it or not, probably because I was so used to running the Mirage SS for so long. But today with it's curved corners, I think I'm liking it, also it's a very snug fit around the tub chassis. Mind you I have a soft spot for the Protech body as well.

The rear wheels are Yokomo 2.2" dished and the adapters were made by Yokomo for the 89 worlds. It gave the Yokomo and Associated drivers the advantage and controversy of been able to run the 2.2" tyres, that Yokomo had especially done and released at the Worlds. Will try and get a photo later, basically they came as a set for front and rear, Part No. TH-1

The fronts are B4 wheels, so the front end is a couple of mm narrow on either side. I have a couple of pairs of TQ front wheels, Part No. 6852. Does anybody know if these will take today's tyres, I'm thinking they are a little small, possibly 2.1".

While on the subject I have a pair of unused Jammin Step Pins in gold compound, which would look good on the car when its sat at home. Does anybody remember what size wheels they needed, I'm guessing again at 2.1".
