Modern RPM wide A-arms not fitting correctly.

Hello everyone. This is my first post on this forum. I'm restoring my Edinger gold pan to run at the local track once a week. I bought a set of RPM front and rear arms. The rears fit fine, however, the front arms will not fit the shock ball mount. I've searched the forum but no one has said anything about the narrower gap. Am I missing something here?

I'm not an RC10 expert but looks to me like all that needs to work is a captured ball in the ball end and a screw to secure it into the arm mounting hole. Can you remove that captured ball-and-stud and replace with the same diameter ball-with-a-hole? Kyosho uses something similar for their camber link ball-ends.

Those are called pivot balls in the shock rod ends. You have the old steel versions which only work with older stock arms. For RPM arms you need the smaller newer style that fits. You have the choice of steel, aluminum (typically w/ blue anno) or nylon. No big deal, relatively easy and inexpensive item to obtain.

Are the RPM arms wider than the 1994 World's black arms?

Is that a 550 size motor hanging out the back?

It sure looks like a Traxxas Titan 12T 550 to me.

I think you got your answer - just use a different ball pivot and you will be good to go. Still will be snug and you will curse and swear getting the new one in but it WILL fit.
As for the Traxxas motor, I had that in my sons car and it works fairly well. I had to cut part of the shaft off to make it fit under the gear cover though. But it wasn't fast enough compared to my brushless Castle 5700 so I swapped it out and now we are both way too fast

Yep, I had to cut down the motor shaft with a dremel. I pretty much duplicated the electronics that were in my Slash just to get a good baseline. I thought about brushless but that 12t motor is plenty fast for me. Going to 2.4 GHz was such a good idea, no more jitters from interference.
