so ive decided im going to run all my vintage stuff, but I want new electrics (long-ass run times) what 380 and 540 packages do people recommend for equivalent replacements, just high efficiency?

I don't know any specific part #'s but I have seen some fairly low kv 380 and 540 motors on hobby king and hobby parts that are inexpensive and should give long run times with even a 4000 lipo.

be carefull with the 380's they rev really high.

a quality 17.5 system, or 21.5 system is perfect for the vintage cars.

I use a Tower Hobbies TS-67 servo in my vintage cars. It is $17.99. No it's not as fast as most of the far more expensive servos but it is faster than the old Futaba and KO servos that I used to use. I think at some point speed is irrelevant and this one is plenty fast enough for me.

For esc's I go simple again. I use a Hobbyking X-Car 60 amp esc. They are $26.32 each. It's hard to argue with that price. It will run sensored motors and is programmable with the optional card. This esc is the same as the Hobbypartz XE-Run but cheaper. Works great for me.

I also use Hobbyking for motors. I currently have a 10.5T from them but they also have a 13.5T as well. $31.27 and it's sensored. There are tons of other motor options out there in this price range too though. Whatever you do I would not go sensorless.

For transmitters I use the Flysky GT3B which many others use. For $35 or so it is tough to beat.

In my race car I run an Airtronics MX-Sport transmitter which is around $100 and a $60 Savox servo. I still run the same esc and motor though. The above parts may not be Tekin or Novak but for the price they are very tough to beat and they are still far and away superior to the old radios and systems that we used to use before brushless and lipos. For vintage cars or bashers it's the easiest way to go.

As an option, we are now running brushless 21.5 brushless FDR limit of 6.0.
