Hello All, I am trying to collect all of the Kyosho 1/8 Race Nitro buggies. As I understand the first competitive offering from Kyosho was the Burns.

Here is the order as I understand it:

Burns
Turbo Burns
Inferno
Turbo Inferno
MP5
MP6
MP7
MP7.5
MP777
MP9
MP9 TKI
MP9 TKI2
MP9 TKI3

Did I miss any of the buggies early or late?

That looks about right, MarwanRC is the officianado on all things Kyosho, his website may be able to assist, and not to be picky but the MP9 TKI was actually the first MP9 released followed by the SE, then the TKI2/3. Also, there were the Landjump Vanning and Presto models before the Burns, but not sure they're classified as Race Buggies LOL. Would be an excellent collection to see when you complete it. No other brand (expect maybe Mugen Seiki) has a race pedigree in 1/8 that comes close, good luck.

Here's a link for Marwan

*Edit to Add - there were also a number of 7.5 varients called the Kanai models, but not sure if thats relevant*

I Think there is a MP6 International.

Otherwise it's all there with the Kanai models that Kym said.

Thanks for the response guys. I want all of the major platforms before I start to chase the revision cars.

I guess I am going to start an interesting debate. Do you think that the Landjump, Vanning and Presto were race buggies? To me I think that the Presto may be the earliest example of a Kyosho race buggy. I do remember seeing a early world championship video with what looked like a Presto being raced. Did Kyosho market these early buggies as race cars?

The most important 1/8th car of all time is the Burns/Turbo. I wouldn't bother collecting any of the newer ones personally. They are only mild variations. By that time they were photocopied by all other makes anyway.

Kink I would agree the the Burns/Turbo Burns were innovative platforms. When I was young in the ancient days of RC if you did not have a Turbo Burns you would not be able to crack the C main at any race. Where I was we had the best that Europe had to offer. Anyone that drove a euro car was sure to be lapped at least twice in qualifying. I believe that the real game changer was the Inferno. I do have a Turbo Burns, Inferno, Turbo Inferno and MP5 already. There are major differences between the Inferno and MP5. Unfortunately they are hard to see unless you have both cars in you hand and could line them up.

It kind of funny that you say that. I notice that there are tons of electric Kyosho threads but there are almost no nitro threads. I was thinking of creating a thread for my Turbo Burns restoration project. It going to be a runner so everything will not be shinny and scratch free. I did want to put together a video of it racing at the track so people can see what these old cars were capable of. My Turbo Burns is old and dirty but pretty much complete less a body. I am fortunate to have the original pipe and manifold also. Is anyone interested in seeing the old gal again?

If I may add,

The Landjump (Tubular cage body) preceeded the Vanning (Tubular cage body) and the Presto (Lexan body). Landjump also has trailing link suspension.

The Kanai versions are the full option models (MP5-MP777)

No such thing as a MP7....it went from MP6 (disregarding the MP 6 variants) straight to MP7.5. The original MP9 is also known as the MP9 TKI.

Good luck in your efforts....I too collect 1/8 buggies, anything from Kyosho, Mugen, BMT, etc

OK by popular demand I will post some pics after I take them. I also think that I will do a restoration thread. I really want to drive that car again.

Did you all forget about the Rowdy Baja?! I'd say that was the first 1/8 scale Kyosho nitro race buggy.
