Anybody familiar with the traxxas Rad 2?

Post by Brandon G »

There is one nib on the bay I'm watching, but I am not familiar with it.

I think it is a variation of the bullet, but not really sure....

Its the folloup (improvement) for the Radicator. I have an article in one of my old RCCA mags with someone who did a dye job and made it Red.

I haven't been out to my folks house, but i have prolly 5-10 yrs of Magazines w/ good articles in it. And conviently i work HP so I have access to a ton of printers. I'll put that on my list of articles to track down.

It wasn't as high tech as the TRX1/3 but its a good little buggy.

Isn't that the version graupner distributed in europe: they changed the front for some strange reason and had pink wheels of a different design on it.

Might be wrong

a dark-fluo pink (don't know if that makes you feel any better)

And I could be mistaking but I think Rad 2 is 90's.

The auction should be over by now but there's some pictures of the one I scored locally in this post:

the rad2 was available in the US, it had the 3 gear trans, it was just the buggy version of the hawk2. Almost the same suspension as the trx1, shorter front arms and a tub chassis. good littlee buggy. the radicator (1) was just a bullet with a molded tub chassis

When traxxas released the blue eagle they introduced a complete new transmission. It was also offered as an upgrade for the hawk and others on this platform. I wonder which is used on the rad and rad2?

I'm going to tear down the Rad2 I got-- it seems like it's got bushings everywhere.

I'll post some pics of it naked. ;)

the rad2 had the trx1's 3 gear tranny, the rad1 had the old bullet tranny. the rad 1 also had gold aluminum towers and the rad2 had black fiberglass towers from the blue eagle design

I found this Graupner ad for the radictor2:
http://www.retromodelisme.com/page_magazine/5270/buggy-mag-30-sep-oct-1992-page-24.html

Looking back at the specs it was very poorly marketed: they should have gone with a different name and body ast the rad2 is really a very cool car compared to the debutants-only original rad

I'm starting to think I should keep an eye out for one of these on german ebay...
