Howdy all. My girlfriends dad gave me a vintage CE RC10 with the Gold pan frame. He probably used it 10 times and got bored with years and years ago. Still works, just needs to be cleaned up! I'm new to the RC crowd or I guess coming back to it. I messed around a bit when I was a kid, now 30, so I have no idea where to start. First question I have would be does this model come with Reverse? I'm going to be running it outside not racing and would like to have that function. If not how do I go about adding it? Are engine upgrades fairly simple. Thanks alot!

I kid! Welcome to the site, this is a great bunch of guys with a wealth of info about these particular little suckers, I'm just not one of them (the info part ).

Any electric buggy can have reverse, it all depends on what ESC you run. Most racing ESC's don't have reverse but most of the newer ESC's come with it and an option to disable it. Motor upgrades are very easy consisting of removing two screws(most of the time) and two wires. Of course there's a little more to it but I'm sure you'll find the information you need at the site I linked to.

Thanks for the responses. Ill try to get some pictures up tomorrow afternoon/early evening. I'm heading to the hobby shop tomorrow and let it get a once over from a friend of mines buddy. The controller is a 2 stick controller which I will probably switch out for a wheel/trigger setup i think.

Camera is DOA fellas Ill try to snap some with my cam phone and upload sometime soon. Had the friend of a friend who is huge into RCs take a look he was blown away that its so original. Hell it probably was only used 10-15 times when my girls dad had it and then sat in a box. I fired it up and drove it around for a bit.

Now here is the hard part, he gave me a ESC but i have no idea how to wire it in and will i need to change the motor out for that? I wouldnt mind getting some more speed out of it if possible, need to also purchase some newer battery packs. Any write ups anywhere on how to install an ESC?

Also the turning could be alot tighter, the wheels barely turn left and right when flicking the stick. It will turn but i guess the way its setup is for the oval track not running around in sharp turns.

Sorry so many questions at once guys, just itching to get out to a new construction site down the road with it and tear up some dirt hills!

with your steering issue...................

being as though your using a stick radio, i would guess the problem would be the location of the steering rod between the bellcrank and the servo arm. it's probably too low on the servo arm, and it's not giving enough throw. but with out pics, i'm just speculating.

what kind of esc do you have?

First off, Welcome!

2nd: It might be better to first know what you are intending to do with it. Many people on here will consider it a shame if you run a car like that (mainly due to parts) others, like myself, have a couple of restored vintage cars that have seen the track and do get some run time in a local vintage class.

3rd: Older electronics might be the wisest choice. Theyare great for completing the look of a vintage car, but you might consider looking at something a bit more modern. Some folks even collect the vintage electronics, so it could be valuable to hold onto.
