Like many of you I built many an RC10 and some were pretty darned trick. If I could only have one back it would be the superlight one I built using a foam core chassis, layer of carbon on top and bottom with phenolic inserts where the screws went through. That car I went overboard on and lightened up all the parts as much as possible. Things like the front suspension mount, eliminated the third screw and carved all that plastic off. The rear bulkhead was swiss cheesed.. I even went so far as to carve out the top layer and the foam from a significant portion of the center area leaving "rails" along the sides, the battery sat on the bottom layer of carbon. I still have tons of og AE alu bolts from that build. It was crazy fast but a bit fragile and difficult to tune.
Anyone recall who made that? I have a new rpm kit in the bag to trade.

In the early -90 I made chassis that had balsawood in the middle.
Very light and very stiff.

That was very clever and ahead of your time! It is only recently I have heard of honeycomb filled carbon. Maybe I am just out of date!

Honeyhomb was something I had inmind but never did it.
Balsa was easy to work with.
The chassis was super light and super stiff.
